They were more popular than people think.....especially for "Country Folk". Stiff hats were more for the town and city dweller/worker. Damn near every city feller had a bowler/derby, not so for the country.

That liner was used clear into the 90's as well......\
I have at least two Stetsons I bought new before and around 1980 that did not have metric tags.....
Still, even a OR Stetson...
You got lucky...JJ's list said they were out of the larger sizes.......I would have loved to snag another at those prices.....but yes...your shipping is harsh!!!! Fedex can ship those for less than $20........
PS You may consider posting an actual image of the hat. People like to see exactly...
