LATE 40's very EARLY 50's before cellophane tip protectors. The fabric onionskin/cheese cloth tips were introduced in the 40's with the what I call soft screen-door plastics being used in the very late 40's very early 50's just before the clear real plastic cellophane tips......
It is a Twenty-Five.... and sold for said amount.
So no 7X or 100.
A 7X CB would sell for $40 when introduced and then standardized to $50 for a long time. A 100 sold for $100 when introduced and carried that price for a long time....

I experienced exactly the same thing with my brown hemp Whippet. Padding it and wearing it around made the difference.....actually have taken some padding out. If you can take it, DO wet the sweat, but do not apply heat. It will shrink some as it dries. When just damp, place on head and wear...
