The general decline in standards today

Speaking of a decline in standards at department stores, I was at Macy's today and the fitting rooms were dirty! I of course complained to the management, but it shouldn't be that way.

I don't think anyone should be bullied into leaving the FL. I think the bartenders do a great job of keeping the place in order and I trust that if there is a problem they will deal with it.

C'mon, this is all so silly. This is actually an interesting thread when it's not all centered on PB's posting of Einstein's picture which I thought was a good post. Making disparaging remarks about your interpretation of his value as a person is out of line, I think. Why not take it out back to...

I love the Brady Bunch! Please see my comments as well as LizzieMaine's about "All in the Family" earlier in this thread. It's a brilliant show and different from the shows that began the decline in quality content.

I agree! Hearing the "terlit" flush on All in the Family was considered radical. On Leave it to Beaver they weren't allowed to show the toilet in a bathroom scene. Leaving murderous scenes to the imagination was far more effective than the current Hollywood studio's gore and goo. Hitchcock knew...

Those people are worse than purse snatchers! ;) No really, they vex me and so do the clerks who ring them up anyway!

Thanks. It used to bother me but now I know what you state is true so it no longer gets to me and I don't respond. I just smile and shrug.

It's entirely possible to be judgmental without being dictatorial or passive-aggressively controlling. Look at my screen name. I'm as square as it gets. I don't drink or smoke and I'm asleep by 9:00 p.m. But I don't expect or hope for others to do the same. What's ironic is that when I do go...

The beautiful thing about having an open mind is that it can still filter and assess what it lets in. Making judgements is good.

Thank you, and I can see yours and actually agree with you to an extent that it's important to speak out when you see an injustice. I have to admit that I can be a busybody when it comes to the underdogs of the world. I don't like to see people getting pushed around and so I've opened my mouth...

You edited after I posted, so I want to comment on this: Checks and balances: yes. I find that keeping myself in check and balancing my life is a full-time job, and that includes community service. I couldn't imagine having the time or interest to be a busybody. I used to be a counselor, and...

We were discussing adults choosing to engage in premarital sex and other behaviors that others may deem unseemly and then telling them you think it's immoral, etc. That can't compare to someone breaking the law (throwing rocks at a moving train. You should call 911 to report it) and advising...

Are you suggesting that you know what's best for everyone else as far as their personal lives and that it's your duty to inform them of your conclusions? I'm all for high quality merchandise made in America, clever advertising, bringing back the Sears of yesterday, well-mannered people who...

I have to respectfully disagree. I think the husbands were often portrayed as inept in 50's sitcoms and in need of their wive's direction, even (and once again especially) when the husbands acted like they knew it all. Sure the men went to work and came home in a suit and read the paper, but...
