That sounds accurate to me! Styles in skirt lengths, hemlines, necklines, design etc. change all the time too, making it a little more confusing since cocktail and party dresses could be worn for either event, depending on the dress.
Don't you know why they and everyone else in the world is like that? It's the eternal quest to become PC! A losing battle IMHO, since humans are opinionated creatures and will always have preferences, philosophies, and persuasions, and other humans will always be offended by them.
I had this...
I think you've got them mixed up. Going by the most widely used definitions, party dresses are the sparkly, sequined, frou-frou affairs, and modern ones show a lot of skin. Cocktail dresses are a shade more formal, and while they do have embellishments and usually lush fabrics, they aren't as...
Hilarious! That one and The Rabbit of Seville are two of my very favourite episodes ever! No matter how many times I see Elmer Fudd come out in a wedding dress, it's always so hilarious.
The other funny one with those two is Slick Hare, when Elmer is a chef in a restaurant and Humphrey Bogart...
You're not an old frump, you're the last sane person on the planet ;)
I think more casual styles are whats considered appropriate these days, though. For my cousin's wedding next year, when I told my mother what I plan to wear, she said I needed to tone it down, a lot!
That is a hard question! I love Elmer Fudd and Sylvester :D And of course Bugs Bunny!
Mae and James, good for you for exposing the kids to quality programming!

Oh me too, but I have the DVD sets :D I don't know of any mainstream channel that still broadcasts them - Do you remember that nonsense some years back about parents protesting it because it was exposing their children to violence? I think that still sticks.
Personally, I never thought of...
Thanks so much for your replies, ladies! Clabbergirl, I've never been able to find a trichloroacetic acid peel on the shelf. Do you know of any brand names?
Here comes the thread police again. There's two threads with the same title, they probably should be merged:

I agree with you, but just because a mother has a full-time career doesn't necessarily mean her children will suffer. I had a friend when I was about 13 who had four siblings aged 9-17, and their mother was single with a very busy job as an insurance claims adjuster. She ran a tidier and more...
