that first photo is Ad worthy. What a great shot. Is that an Akubra? Love those. Maybe a Stetson? Send the shot to them, they might use it in an ad it's so dang good.
np. Love all my jackets and that's why the closet is quickly filling up because I don't want to give any of them away. But any time I wear any of the 3 (soon to be 4) Cals, it's a whole other level. I can't describe it. It just exudes the essence of bad assery. The cut and fit is something...
the bottom of the so called "beaver tail" (I think Jmax coined that) is a good 2 inches longer than the true spot of where it sits on your body. So it's probably closer to a 23 or 24 in length. I think 23 was standard and 24 was long size if I recall.
Cals (at least the 4 I got) aren't known...
as a seller, you got more protection. I was more worried about a Paypal FF transaction where it's 100% trust you're hoping you get what you bought. But sounds in your case, it doesn't matter new or old. Really too bad.
Freaking epic fit!!!! No shit, I don't need to sell you anymore, I'm being honest. Wow.
And the net proceeds going to St. Judes, so it's a win-win-win. Wear it in good health.
good post. I've been tempted by a couple really nice jackets from posters only having 1 or 2 posts and decided to pass. Not saying those are frauds, but comfort level wasn't there for me.
really? Good to know. I haven't handled a HB, so it was more at a styling level. I've got 5 racers that look like that Kennsington at various price levels from $275 for my 641xx to $1400 for my FL Route 66. But the Thedis intrigue me because there's a little tasteful razzle dazzle. But I...
awesome jacket. Does this style run big? I thought the Japanese stuff was notorious for running small. You about the same size as me and I've passed on some size 40 RMCs I've seen on Buyee because I thought they'd be too small. But this looks perfect on you.
Bravo!!! Glad you rebounded from that other "Scottish" experiment. LOL. That was a nightmare and I was almost sucked in too, and then also got turned on to Greg. So it's a good progression and shows you all things Scottish are not equal.
But I want to hear more about this barbed wire...
Awesome. Glad you got that connection. Nice thread idea.
Well, my first leather jacket that I remember was a cheap rip off of a Top Gun (patches and all) G1 that I bought when I was probably like in 7th or 8th grade. Was a growing boy so didn't really get to wear it much.
But more recently...
Was at the Cal shop today dropping off a bunch of stuff in need of various repairs. Her dad owns the upholstery shop attached to the Cal front and I started talking to him. He confirmed what pretty much everyone here said, once it cracks, it's pretty much impossible to reverse. BUT, he said he...
118. Bought this almost exactly 1 year ago. Was either my first or second "real" leather jacket. It's a 40. Probably could squeeze into a 38 as there's a lot of give on these with the shoulder gussets and underarm footballs. But it's good I have at least 1 jacket where I can layer a little...
Hey Jin, just to be clear. 118 is not HH. It's naked cow. All the 100 series Schotts use this leather. Not sure how much the formula has changed over the years, but the leather is so nice, I bought the 141 and 165 in it. I agree though, probably not good for motorcycle riding if you live in...
With a little luck, @abone2010 will have it on Monday or Tuesday and it will fit. Package was 7 lbs 11 ozs, so a solid 7.5 lbs for sure. And I agree, the design is perfect. More simplistic, yet functional. It was just too much jacket for me, and every time I was going for a side lace jacket...
oh yeah, I know it's real, for sure.
I wouldn't call it a grain monster. More fine, spider web like. I just like the way it feels and it's super comfortable. My Enfield has the same feel but is not comfortable as the 118. Basically like lamb skin, but like 20x thickness LOL. I'm starting...
these are super nice. I've been watching a medium size on Ebay. I think like most Schott's I'm going to be in between a med and large. Can you tell if the leather is teacore. The other seller described it as having black with a brownish hue, so not sure whether he knows what he's talking...
sure. I'll wear it tomorrow and take some photos outside. That one I bought new last year, actually almost year ago. I bought it just as Covid breakout started. Was in the LA store and talking to the guys about whether this "illness" was real or not LOL. Wow how things changed.
Here's an...
the horsehide I believe comes from Italy or Spain but is constructed in USA. So that's why it doesn't have the full blown US flag. The 618 steer is really stiff and top coat. I have one I just got from the 70s and it's barely broken in. But once it gets there, it's certainly nice. On the...
