In all the discussions of various makers, I've never seen this one mentioned until just now. I think the goods look pretty nice in an old school kind of way. In 1967 I had made for me a regulation LAPD motorcycle jacket (less badge holes, etc.) and it looked extremely similar. And they're close...
I can't say I've read every message and this may have already been touched on:
I had a similar jacket made for me in 1968 and I believe that the detachable collar was rabbit fur. Maybe yours is too.
I lost weight and basically am getting a whole new wardrobe. I also got a cap from "The Hat People" in Oregon and they come without a snap for easier wearing "back." I like their material, sort of a Pendleton wool, but I like the B!Wear caps a lot better. And B!Wear is less expensive too.
I'm not a total moron. Obviously a person can put them up and tie a scarf around their neck and some collars have straps that keep them closed when up, but usually they're just lying there. So what is the basic argument for having a fur or mouton collar? Is it a fashion thing, is the...
I usually hang out in the outerwear section dissecting leather jackets, etc.; but I like to wear a newsboy cap sometimes and I checked this forum for advice. B!Wear Caps were recommended (link below) and I was very satisfied. I would recommend emailing ahead to the owner, Brett, and arranging...
The above pix worked on me anyway. When I saw them and your previous posts while researching different makers, I stopped being a prisoner of doubt and resolved to get that jacket (customized, of course). I'll post when I receive it around the 10th. Meanwhile, Alan (Johnson) couldn't be nicer...
I don't blame you for worrying about the fit. Good Luck, (you'll need it). But I wouldn't sweat the hide issue one bit. The thing that kills me about this whole Aero mess is that people were totally happy and satisfied with what they had (and couldn't tell the difference). I expect people to...
I don't pretend to know anything; but for what it's worth I have two jackets on the way: one from Johnson Leathers (where I went in person for a fitting) and one from Lost Worlds (where I think they have some really primo stuff and you don't have to wait a million years). Frankly, if it was me...
I don't know anything about anything so I probably should just keep my mouth shut at not attract a lot of hatred. But if I were so foolish as to offer an opinion, I'd say it was the LW sale page for cryin' out loud, where they practically rub your nose in "no returns." Caveat emptor, or as my...
Actually, I was somewhat chastened by later developments and now agree with the above more than I did when I started this string. I may buy something on Ebay in the future but only if it's brand new and condition is not an issue.
When I was young I was in NYC with no warm coat so I bought a West Point cadet great coat in a second hand store. The problem with wearing a coat like that is that it makes too much of a statement. When you're walking down the street, you feel like people are clearing a path for you. I don't...
I have both hides from Vanson. Firenze is thinner and the finish is more on the surface, so the patina is in the way it chips away at the edges. Still I'm glad I have Firenze on a Teton because I think it might be too heavy otherwise. I would take competition in every case except if weight is...
I emailed them and they advised me to get a jacket two inches more that my chest for a military fit (for a 40" chest go for 21" pit to pit flat measurement). That didn't make sense to me so I moved on.
