Nice bike and nice jacket!
The traffic is so bad here that i have decided to try to become a biker full time, i can't deal with sitting in my car stuck in traffic anymore...
It's pretty rainy right now but i am commiting to the bike. I'll be wearing this one today:
I would clean and condition.
You don't know if the previous owner was one of these guys with acidic sweat that is going to eat the back of the collar and make it crumble away.
IMO there are two things people call "patina" on leather, dirt buildup, which i have no interrest in keeping on the...
"Side panels" is what you meant.
They adjust tapering by making narrower side panels i think.
I think the 40 standard tapering down to a 38 at the waist might be a good solution too.
Much better fit.
IMO you could still go one size down comfortably, but 44 looks like a nice layering size.
If it was me i would order a shorter body length, i find it a bit long.
Don't get me wrong, it doesn't look bad, but IMO it doesn't look great either.
I would be happy with that fit if that was a used jacket i got for a great deal, if i was paying full new price i would want a better fitting jacket than that.
I think the front looks ok, but the back shows sign of the jacket being too big.
IMO once the back folds on itself like it does in your pic the jacket is too large. Especially considering you are already wearing a jumper underneath it.
Edit: i mean it doesn't look bad, but that's a fit i would...
Top tip: showing the jacket being worn whilst smoking is a great way of killing interrest in your sale.
Most people don't want jackets that smells of smoke, especially sheepskin.
This has also been my experience.
I like to inspect stitching, i like to inspect how the corners of pockets are folded, how straight and symetrical things are, and i usually notice better attention to detail in Japanese made jackets than in most other makers.
Not saying only japanese makers do...
That Surrogate jacket is cool, interresting/different collar.
Redwood is sweet, but i don't like the OD green stitching that TB seems to be using with it.
That was just part of a weird move they did to charge people more for the same thing.
They used to have prices in Euro, they changed the currency to GBP and kept the same prices, meaning a 20% increase in value at the time. I don't think they have anything going on in the UK.
There are rumours...
Sorry i wasn't clear, i don't do gardening in a leather jacket, what i meant is i have been used to being out in the rain because i do a lot of work in the rain. Like last week i was cutting hedges all week, it rained a lot, if i stopped everytime it rained i would have done no work at all.
Interresting that you prefer to wear wool when it rains.
I would have thought that would be even worst! I know wool stays warm when wet, but doesn't it soak through pretty fast?
I was just thinking about my "obsession" with rain resistance, and i see it might just be me being weird/different.
I...
Sure, they can deal with a little bit of spray bottle action, but not real sustained rain.
The first time i wore the Thedi i bought from you in the rain i was wet in about 15 minutes, the leather offered virtually no protection from the elements. When it dried, it dried leaving a bunch of white...
Personally i am a bit over Shinki.
They do nice leather, but they also do average one. Now that i have handled as many jackets as i have, i see Shinki isn't nicer than any other good quality leather.
My main problem with it is the fact that it isn't waterproof, I don't really get the point in...
Looks great, i wouldn't change a thing.
As others have said, this isn't supposed to be a tight coat, you shoudl be able to layer comfortably under it.
I have a 42 LW Peacoat, it fits well, but with a bit of room like yours fit.
My brother has a size 40 LW peacoat, it fits, it looks better in...
Exactly what Marc said, i was ready to risk Mint Vintage when i lived in the UK and coudl return a jacket for 10GBP, it felt like a risk worth taking.
Now that i have left the UK i don't think i would buy form them again, international shipping and import taxes add a layer of complexity i don't...
