The other reason for the leather strip is to prevent the possibility of the lining sagging below the jacket. My Highwayman was fine when new, but, after it had broken in, the lining began to show by about 1/2" when seen from the rear. I got my good wife to sew a horizontal pleat in the lining...
If you have the physique, I think this outfit takes some beating :)

Hope you are enjoying breaking in your new Aero holdencain. I'm sure there are many here who would still like to see it - any chance of some photos? Would really like to see how it fits - seriously considering the 30's halfbelt for my next project. Cheers
That's a great, classic looking half belt! Not a pattern I've seen before, looks similar to the Ventura but with a bit of the Aero Hercules pattern at the front - very nice indeed! If it's the same horsehide as my Ventura, you will find it breaks in quite quickly. Congratulations and enjoy!
A round of golf with my mates - a mince pie and a swig of single malt on every other hole. Evening - walk to the pub with the wife - a few pints of Bass or Marstons Pedigree - back home to see in the new year! Life is good!! Happy New Year!
Happy New Year to all here in the FL, with a special mention to all my friends in the Outerwear section. Just under 1 hour to go to midnight over here in the UK - have a happy and healthy 2011.
Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to wish all here in the Outerware section a very merry Christmas! To the really lucky ones with new leather jackets (and there does seem to have been quite a few these past couple of days) enjoy the breaking in process - I envy you the combined smell of mulled...
Wow, that's one high spec Aero! Mouton fur, shearling, alpaca, corduroy, moleskin, satin, not mention the stunning hide - truly the Bentley of all Windwards! That's what I call a Christmas present - once again Mr Windward, enjoy!
Another very nice Aero Windward, Mr Windward - you do wear this style well. Five Windwards now in your stable - that's almost a herd!! Enjoy the break in and I look forward to seeing your new Bentley version. Merry Christmas.
Magnificent Highwayman Chi-Town, looks like the hide has a nice even color and texture on all panels. Enjoy the break in period. I would also start saving now - chances are this will not be your last Aero!
