Jeans are 'Carhartt Workwear EB210 Ranch Jeans'. They have quite a high rise and are 13.25 oz raw denim. I found just this one pair in TK Max, here in the UK, but I would think they would readily available in the US.
Cheers
Tony No-Toes - Many thanks. Yes, the build quality of this jacket is indeed superb - the stitching looks absolutely perfect to my eye. If I could raise the funds, I would also love own one of John's A2's.
Dudleydoright - Have to agree with RP McMurphy here. The lower set action back...
KhalilSheikh -Thanks for posting these superb close up photos - really shows the jacket at it's very best. I would be interested to know how long you have had your jacket and how the hide is breaking in. Mine is softening up beautifully, even after the short time I have owned it.
Do have...
Thanks Windward - I'm looking for some real quality plain front chinos. The link to Bills khakis look good but I would like to see a photo of someone wearing a pair rather than a drawing like on their website.
This guy looks OK in plain front khakis...
Thanks for the link - very nice stuff here. They look good quality and are a good price too. The only thing I'm not sure about is the bib front, but that's just me. Are there any other UK based shops that might stock decent chinos?
Windward - Many thanks. I would love a really good pair of chinos to go with this jacket but I can't find any worth buying over here in the UK. Ralph Lauren used to do some great heavy duty Khakis but not any more. Love your new avatar BTW - very smart!
PhilR - This jacket was not made...
767fo - Well spotted, it is indeed that jacket and I feel very fortunate to own it. I can only assume the very trim measurements ruled out many people. John did say he selected the hide in person whilst visiting a Japanese tannery. He sent me a photo of a well worn in A2, manufactured from...
R P McMurphy -After a few days of wearing and moving around in it, with it zipped up, the Leather has eased quite a bit. A very thin lambswool sweater might be possible but I think it will probably be worn with just a shirt.
I've taken some pics with it zipped up to show the taper in the...
Thanks Navin - I'm getting the feel of this vintage fit jacket but the fitted waist is too trim for sweaters. I can zip it up with a sweater underneath but it's way too tight for comfort. With just a shirt on, it hugs the body but I can move in it ok. Even when the leather has eased out a...
OneEyeMan - Cheers Lenny. Glad the stretching technique worked. I'm just wearing and moving around in this for now, with the jacket zipped up. I'll see how much it has relaxed in a week or two before I go out in the rain :)
Pushrod - Thanks for that, I'm getting the feeling I was very...
I'm not sure if I have felt any cheap chrome tanned leather, although I might have seen it without knowing what it was. Both the Aero and the Goodwear feel dense to me - both very high quality. I would say the main difference is that the Aero chrome tanned heavy front quarter horse has a...
pipvh - Many thanks. You're right about jacket length and a certain look, it's seems to be a very fine line between spot on and just not quite right.
jon z - I don't know about obsessive (although my wife would probably disagree with that) but I do own up to being a perfectionist - in...
Todd V - Thanks Todd.
Vic - Cheers Vic.
Papa M - That's great looking Californian! Have you got a back view of you wearing it? It would be interesting to compare.
That's a good question Bonneville. It's different, but in a good way. My medium weight Aero has an almost spray painted look about it and no smell to it at all. This has filled the house with that lovely horsehide aroma, just like my heavy horse Highwayman did. The feel of this is heavy but...
OneEyeMan - Hi Lenny, how's it going? I seem to remember you gained a bit of length on your jacket by getting it wet and stretching it - did it stay that way or has it gone back to it's original size with time?
Seb Lucas - Thanks for comments Seb. I gathered you like half belts - I think this...
Windward - Many thanks. The jeans are the first raw denim ones I have owned since I was a teenager - I think they make a change from the usual stone washed, pre faded variety.
Nighthawk - Thanks for that. Judging by the number of positive comments so far, I think if there was anything...
The length does concern me a bit, but comparing it to the Goodwear web site, it doesn't look that different. The style has a very pronounced taper at the natural waist (the area above the hip bones) this appears to be where the side belts should sit...
EmergencyIan - Many thanks. I have yet to own an A2 but, if I did, it would be a Goodwear - the craftsmanship is excellent.
HoosierDaddy - Thanks HD, I was hoping you might take a look for me.
jack miranda - Thanks Jack. I think the 30's and 40's half belts are my favorite style.
