A few items that I have listed here before (plus some non-FL stuff) that are still available. If you have questions about any of these items, send me a PM or an email through FL (preferred). I might also be interested in a trade for a silverbelly Open Road (or similar from Resistol, etc.) in...
Have you considered returning it? Auction states that returns are accepted, with buyer paying shipping; however, if it was not advertised correctly, ebay Buyer Protection should cover shipping if the seller won't do it. I just went through this with a similar (non-hat) situation on ebay and...
My (new to me) circa 1950s Bandera Open Road clone. It is hard to tell in the photo, but the ribbon is (or has faded to) a pink-tan color to contrast with the tan felt.
It seems Resistol may recycle their model names too - I have an OR-style "Wide Country" but have come across a regular western style with the same name marked in it.
Unusual Resistol
I have owned this one for a while, but I don’t think I ever posted this unusual hat in this forum. This is a 3X Byer-Rolnick-era Resistol OR-style that is marked both “Fort Worth” and “Pecos.” The hat was sold by a store in Minnesota, so the Texas markings aren’t related to...
That's more than I've have ever found out about them and I've owned three including this one (including a 5X OR clone). The others were from the 1960s and this one seems older than the others. They are a very well made hat in any case. No model name is marked on the hat or the box.
I'm pretty sure this is the one I just posted in the "New Hats" forum - arrived in the mail today! It looks as good in person as the pictures - the ribbon is a "pink" tan color.
Bandera 3X OR Clone
My "new" (to me) vintage Bandera 3X Open Road clone. I have owned two other westerns from Bandera Hats of Fort Worth, TX, and they were of outstanding quality, on-par with any of my vintage Stetson or Resistol westerns. This one is just as nice and appears to be older than...
I've seen the one James Taylor wear (on TV) and it does appear to be a vintage Open Road. I can't afford one right now, but I'm sure tempted by those ORs at Paris Hatters!
I was in Paris Hatters yesterday and talking with Abe about the 10X and 20X Open Roads - he asked me to share with folks on the Lounge that Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top recently purchased one of the 20X Open Roads from him. I wonder if this is it...
