I e-mailed them for measurements of the size 46 and 48 distressed A-2 jackets asking for the 3 basic measurements: pit to pit, sleeve and back length.
Their reply? A very curt: 27" across and 25" sleeves.
I e-mailed again asking which size those measurements were for. Their succinct reply...
Hi Worf, I got that e-mail from Shaul as well and personally I like the overall look of the re-designed jacket (tho it's nowhere near the premier Irvin repro makers). Nice to have options as to how authentic one wants their Irvin.
I suspect this US A is on par with The Cockpit (and probably...
Here is the newly re-designed Irvin style flight jacket from FlightJacket.com (U.S.Authentic). While not in the ELC/The Few class of authentic Irvin jackets, it's a nice mid-range jacket that's currently on sale for $845US.
Also available without hand warmer pockets.
I bought my BK M-422 last year and couldn't be happier with the style, fit and quality. One of my best jacket acquisitions, especially now in light of the price increase.
I believe that's a US Navy A-1 Extreme Cold Weather deck jacket. It was produced in the 1960's and had an impermeable heavy-duty sateen/nylon finish and an insulated interior lining.
ELC may be the best, but there are some other less expensive (and less accurate) A-2 makers in the UK as well: besides Aero there is Alexander Leathers, Wested and Aviation Leathercraft. All make a version of the A-2. Good luck with your choice.

Used Gibson & Barnes goatskin Civil A-2 in a size 42 Tall. Had a blood chit removed from the back (will include a replacement rayon blood chit to cover area). Very good condition; $120.
You may want to check out Medals of America.com for some other ideas as well. They do all kinds of custom/veteran pride clothing including jackets. They have a wide variety of clothes and merchandise and can customize almost anything with medals, rank badges, years of service, custom embroidery...
Check out Sporty's A-2 jackets; only $225. I don't personally own one but the quality must be decent; Sporty's has been around a while and sells a lot of pilot supplies and aviation themed products.
Some manufacturer's jackets have a very wide sleeve as well as body/torso and if you are on the slim side (without Arnold Schwarzenegger biceps) the jacket sleeve will also feel and appear more "blousey" and loose. The US Authentic A-2 has a somewhat trim sleeve IMHO. Just another fit factor to...
Hi Schitzo, check out the new Eastman "slender-fit" A-2; it's a seal brown A-2 cut with a narrower sleeve and torso for a trimmer fit. Looks great on the ELC website.
I agree RailRoad; my guess is that the ad is from the 1990-2000 era. BTW, it's funny but I paid $70 for my used LL Bean leather jacket (in mint condition from the 'Bay) and $125 for the Flying Tigers leather blood chit from Gibson and Barnes (they've since raised the price to $148; US Wings...
This Golden Bear advertising page from the LL Bean catalog shows jackets in the S-M-L-XL sizes; I don't think it's 1978 (as claimed "circa 1978") since the older jackets were numerically sized (42, 44, 46, etc). Unless of course they changed to the lettered, generic sizes from 1978 onwards?
