After being around vintage ties for so long it's hard to explain to someone how I can pretty much instantly tell you if it's 1940s or not. Widebrim gave you an excellent answer. It has an overall shape to it that modern ties do not. It's sort of the angle it takes from its narrowest width to its...

Caught a whopper today! Don't ask me why I bought this at a yard sale today. It measures a sizeable 26" x 16" and weighs a few pounds. I was on my bike and somehow figured a way to fit this in my backpack....with the tail fin protruding a ways....

That middle one has some 1950s colors to them and has that 'shape' of an early 50s. I'd need to see the flip side of them, though.

You certainly seem to find some unique one. An odd placement of the horseman, though.

Nice! I'm hooked on these. I did notice, however, when leafing through a friend's J. Crew catalog, that they are offering square-bottoms of this same width. Yikes! I hate when my style turns trendy.......:rage:

The rest of the missing label would have said 'individually hand-painted.' I've seen this same tie somewhere I can't recall, but the color scheme was different.

Here's a bold one! The label has been clipped off, though. All that's left is 'Individually.......' [/IMG]
