From today, a nice square-bottomed example from Manhattan Shirt Company, c.mid-'50s; silk.

Nice! I'm hooked on these. I did notice, however, when leafing through a friend's J. Crew catalog, that they are offering square-bottoms of this same width. Yikes! I hate when my style turns trendy.......:rage:

I took a punt on these for $12, and the punt turned up good, as the photo suggested it would. All from the late 40s/early 50s, half of them from the same store and same brand (Beau Brummell).

Very nice! Lots of red. That top left one looks very familiar to me....

Hahaha! Yeah, for me the whole "Mad Men Style" fad is great (for my work wardrobe). I can sneak vintage in and nobody bats an eye, they assume I'm wearing something uber trendy. My wide 40s ties are another story . . .

That gradated knit square-bottom is AMAZING, by the way!

You certainly seem to find some unique one. An odd placement of the horseman, though.

The green one with the flowers definately packs a lot of pizazz. The red/white/blue one with irregular shapes also has pizazz. The last one is neat too. The one with the red diamonds seems like a 30's tie to me in a way.

One of my favorites. Based on the weave and cut (and the rather simple graphics), I at first thought it was a '30s tie, but the vertical pleats and longer length point to post-WWII. All silk.

Here's one I wore the other day. By Tootal, a common English brand from vintage times. They graded their ties, generally by colour: Green Quality, Silver Quality, etc. This one is marked "Sports Quality". It's quite a nice fabric. Feels like brushed cotton.

That's a nice tie Baron. Very flashy compared to most British ties I've seen from that era. Tootal is my favourite tie brand (they still make some reasonably nice ties these days).

i've got a few sporting themed ties like this. One just as flashy in yellow with polo players (on horses) on it. Once I get back to the ones in storage i'll be able to pull out a very rare British beast in Charvet-like print. Very, very rare indeed.
