It is all relative. If you live in TX and you go to a formal black tie event it is entirely OK to wear a western hat. There may be some exclusive old money, not from TX hosts where it might be a less than great idea.
If it comes off as sincere and not costumed, doing this to throw it in your...
Maybe Lion didn't become Beaver/Beaver Brand hats.

With this particular hat, as FANATASTIC looking as it is, I would have opted for the under-employed but looking damned stylish decision also.
Bravo on the purchase.
Does anyone know the date that Lion Hats became Beaver brand hats?
I picked up a 100% beaver Lion a couple of months back from Ebay.
Felt is very nice but it is stiffer as this hat is quasi-western, thin ribbon OR knock off . It has low crown (4 5/8" open) and moderate (2 7/8") brim...
Interesting vintage cowboy hat. Is it 30's or when?
I have seen that area of Oregon when heading to French Glen. The Mustangs are around in abundance, or at least they were 6 years back when was through there last.
"To my knowledge, there is nothing in the bible that compels the wearing of a 3 1/4 inch Borsalino by orthodox Jews. While Borsalino is an Antica Casa, it is not that old."
SHHHHH!!
You're probably threatening one of the excuses some of us here are using for collecting so many hats.
"My second vintage hat is a Knox Custom with the 'Custom Edge' brim that I got last week for $15 + shipping. "
Great looking Knox and you look good wearing it.
What a steal on a well kept vintage fedora.
I have worn hats since childhood. My hair started thinning in my twenties.
Many of my relatives and a few others have commented over the years upon seeing my thinning hair when my hat was removed, "Grass doesn't grow well in the shade".
I think I'll keep using the shade..........
You are far from being alone in having an extra long oval head with disproportionate cranial cavity above the ears.
I have to make crown adjuatments and every hat I have has to end up with front brim dip to some degree as a result of increasing the ovality of the hat shape.
I believe it is a top hat but not one with an extral tall crown. The size of his head would make even a tall top hat not look tall.
Of course the semi-stingy hardened metal cutting edge brim aids in making it look short.
I learned that low limb-sucked into the bush hog lesson with a Resistol Diamond Horseshoe western 16 years ago. My hat was in several piecess before it emerged.........DOH!!!
I was really feeling this reply TopG until I got to that "liver and onions" part....
CitRon, the hat looks very natural on you. It looks a part of you and you look and that complement each other.
I guess you call those hats but in my way of thinking, if a flock of geese flies overhead and they dump the results of their last meal on my head I would not call their work a hat.
Hats have 360 degree brims, caps have bills, and the rest of the stuff is just head cover.:p
No, it appears he has gotten a new one and what looks to be a better one. That blue one looked like a costume hat to me since it appeared to have been easily messed up.
The one he had on this morning looked like Jimmy The Lid may have been the stylist.
Lester Holt also had on a nice lid...
