    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Very nice Daniele, but the label appears to be the mid 1950s version?

    Turquoise/Native American jewelry

Ask a question, get an answer

Yes, a deep brim cut will serve to undermine the original flange intention. Here is a quick summary from a few hats I have owned. At first introduction, the Stratoliner was an unlined lightweight hat. I am not sure which of the three I've owned is the earliest, but all date somewhere around the...

Ask a question, get an answer

Hi Joe... I have owned several of the first generation Stratoliners (1941-42). All have a bound brim approximately 2 5/8” wide. Two have embroidered tip patches like the one shown above. One does not. It also has a different sweat stamping which is perhaps the earlier example. All have a retail...

    Boater faction!

The Royal Stetson - a nice open weave boater featuring a fancy sweatband with rolled edge and hidden stitching. Lovely finishing throughout. This is the early Royal Stetson mark (registered 1935), likely later 1930s to 1940.

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Time is running short to get the straw boaters out in the sunlight. Here is a Royal Stetson - a nice open weave featuring a fancy sweatband with rolled edge and hidden stitching. Lovely finishing throughout. This is the early Royal Stetson mark (registered 1935), likely later 1930s to 1940.

The Official Stetson Nutria Quality Thread

Great to see... and right in line with the ones I have owned... the LOT4XXX hats are likely 1920s. Odd that the Real Nutria Fur designation seems to survive insects much better than the Clear Nutria quality, finer fur and much tastier too.

Such an odd summer... I'm afraid not enough time or occasion to get all my straws out for the wearing they deserve. For those of you who enjoyed the NY Times article on the making of Montecristi hats (it must have made the news on the FL?), here is a lovely example that was woven in Ecuador and...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

If you are thinking of contemporary bespoke hats, I believe they sell for less than they did new. How much less is likely dependent on their original price. Optimo hats, for instance, are among the most expensive in the bespoke market and seem to me to sell for less than half of their original...
