In 1939 when the movie was made, you could probably find A-1 jackets in second hand shops, just like you can occasionally find modern flight and field jackets today. -

What drives me nuts are auto-dialers. They're legal where I live and will dial multiple #s at once. Whoever was unlucky to answer gets the call and all the others pick up their phone to dead silence. Worse still, are the ones who call you and ask you to wait for the call center person to pick...- p51

We had an ice storm in 2012, nothing worked. The power went off everywhere in the county, and all the cell towers iced over. But I was able to call the power company from our land line that I refuse to get rid of (in spite of several attempts by my wife). There's a pay phone at a local gas...- p51

I agree, but can anyone explain to me why it's so common these days for you wait forever to get the check? How about all the plates with markings that contained lead? It was going on into my lifetime, I remember my Mom finding out a Campbell's Soup bowl we had with markings for the company had lead so she made a huge deal about nobody eating out of it (yet, she kept it). I had a good time at the local 4th of July parade, went there with several other military vehicle owners, I think had about 2 dozen military rides of varying vintage. In the parade, we had them in order of the year they were built, from 1940 (a Ford GP) to the late 1990s (a modern 5-ton)...- p51

Yeah, years ago I went to the Alamo and they had a room in the mission building filled with flags representing each of the defenders who died. More TN flags than any other.
