I can see that, especially with (like scotty says) all the knowledgeable people here. You menfolk sure know a lot about hats.
It only took me a couple of months of lurking to join up. Though, that could be because I never quite caught on to the "not vintage enough" phenomenon that turns so...
On the whole, drugstore powders aren't worth the little money you pay for them - The quality just doesn't compare. Not to mention how easily they smash, and the limited colour choices.
It doesn't cost *that* much more to buy quality make-up. There are some things you can get off cheaply...
I love to make things, too. I have a couple of established hobbies I'm adept at: I've been knitting since I was a wee'un - toys, hats, socks, sweaters and the like. I've done a fair amount of cross stitching too, and have been told I'm handy in the baking department.
As for new hobbies...
Most likely because its an orange/coral red (It doesn't look nice on me, either.) But I bet you do well with blue reds!
I may as well add my .02: Other than bright blue red and wine red, I like topaz-y shades (MAC's "O") and the occasional pink. Purple is another popular non-red option -...
Oh my. I would be tempted to accidentally rifle through their bathroom cabinet next time I visited them, whether they intended to give the shoes away or not.
I know you may not want to hear this, but look on the bright side - You may well find a much more fabulous pair on your future thrift...
scarlett, Grant Fan, rue - Thank you gals, you're sweet! :)
Neither am I - Really! lol It takes me 5 seconds: I pin up all the back hair with a duckbill clip, pin the sides on top with smaller clips, and throw a couple of bobby pins to keep it all in the middle.
Oh my goodness, thank you so...
I have a cardigan with a fur collar, but I feel like it's a bit dressy for the office. I wear it when I go out, and always in winter.
I don't mind wearing it inside at all!
I wear my hair in two styles (I've used these photos before, but I don't feel like taking another one):
Down,
And up.
If I get bored, I put clips or bows into it. I used to fuss with different styles every day, but its so much easier just to wear it one way. It's one less...
Not only that, but "black" hair is a completely different ball game than European or Asian hair. It has a much thicker consistency and a more durable texture, so it can take much more of a beating. I wouldn't recommend using dish soap on any other type of hair (unless you want to strip your...
The baby powder trick is really a cheap alternative to dry shampoo, ladies. Whatever you'd use dry shampoo for - removing perspiration and oil, adding volume - you can use baby powder for.
Oh gawd. Canada customs are such PITAs. When we cross the border and come back, they give us hell every time.
I'll be sure to post when I get the box, so excited! :D
I know there are Torontonians on here, but like others have said, I haven't seen any of you. The "vintage community" here is more of the ironic, quirky, fashion editorial type (which I hate) than true enthusiasts like us. I would adore having a friend to go to the Rockabilly Cafe with me...
Ah, I use baby powder too. Helps soak up oil, and I find I get better volume.
Sounds like we have the same kind of hair all around, actually. I have to wash it every three days at least or its horrifying.
