What DO you want for Christmas?

I found out I'm not getting it, so it may as well have been the right. :( Maybe I'll buy it for myself. Life has its compensations though: He found Bettie Page Clothing all on his own, so whatever I get from there will be a major score! Ooh what a great gift!!

    My Week With Marilyn (2011)

I saw the movie on Saturday. Michelle did an admirable job, considering she faced the insurmountable task of portraying Marilyn. She looked quite good, the costumes were accurate, and she had the same breathless voice. Kenneth Branagh was amazing as Olivier. He even looked like him in...

What DO you want for Christmas?

I want a replica of the star sapphire ring William Powell gave to Jean Harlow. I dropped a bunch of not-so-subtle hints to the boyfriend. Maybe for once he'll listen lol

    Nothing but Seamed Stockings

The hairspray method sounds interesting, but is it difficult to wash the it out of the stockings after? Fastening the back garter first and then tightening it works for me.

    My Week With Marilyn (2011)

Based on the book by Colin Clark, an uncredited director's assistant who worked on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl in 1956. It's gotten good reviews - about 3.5 stars - in the major papers. Michelle Williams does a pretty accurate impersonation, with the style and fit of her costumes...

    Free Matilda!!

Definitely. I might possibly be more inclined to understand this if there had been a lot of complaints received. Not that complaints automatically equal legitimacy, but it seems all the more senseless when there haven't been any.

    Free Matilda!!

"Thus do two more New York traditions fall victim to Health Commissioner Tom Farley’s food fascists." That about sums it up.

    Eye shadow

Ahh, good for you. I don't even know where I would start to support small business make-up brands! (I won't get started on Occupy Toronto...)

    Eye shadow

Indeed, the pigment isn't very saturated, which is great if you like a subtle look, but not so much if you prefer more colour. The Natural pallette was a popular alternative to Urban Decay's infamous Naked Pallette at Sephora last Christmas, though with less range.

    The Official Beauty Box thread

Thanks for the tip - I was going to try that exact combination, actually lol Maybe it will look nice with silver. I'm going to have to take some more things out of the box: I tried packing it up last night, and it was much too full. Also, Canada Post doesn't do flat rate - Packages ship...

    Other than red lipstick

Beautiful colour - I bought it when it came out and used it right down to the bottom of the tube. I don't mind Gaga, her music isn't to my taste but she's quite pretty, and I admire her work for MAC. Plus, she got to pose with Cyndi Lauper! Cyndi is the best! :D He's got great taste in...

    The Official Beauty Box thread

The box reached my town yesterday, but I didn't actually get it until tonight because of a problem with the package guy. Anyhow, here's what I took: Burt's Bees conditioner - MAC Mineralize Powder in Lightscapade - Urban Decay eyeshadow in Midnight Cowboy Rides Again - Andrea False Eyelashes...

Rest In Peace John F. Kennedy

I just finished reading Four Days in November last week. It is tragic to think what could have been, if only he had lived.

    Other than red lipstick

Nobody can wear any colour. For example, generally brunettes with pale skin don't do too well with warm, "dirty" colours, depending on the warmth/coolness of your hair. Pale skin also comes in different undertones - tawny, pink, blue etc. - and each one has colours that complement and clash...

    Eye shadow

Oh, I'm not saying you can never find anything good, I have just found it to be of generally lesser quality in my experience. I'm glad you found a good drugstore primer, I'll have to try it out! :) Thanks for that. I wondered about sparkly shadows too. I knew they existed in the Golden...

What Vintagey things do you like doing?

I read the paper every Saturday morning at the breakfast table with a hot cup of tea :) I love the paper, it beats the TV news any day. Good point! lol So is law, but as I'm not old Mr. Thackeray with white hair and a pinstripe suit, I guess it isn't too vintagey.

    Fur Scarves and Fur Collars

I took a page from your book today, Paisely, and wore my fur collar cardigan to the office. Several of my co-workers complimented it!
