    are we becoming too self-centered?

Yes, but also many are not held to the same academic standards, mostly the for-profit colleges, some of which have faced lawsuits because of it.

    are we becoming too self-centered?

What about the fact that degrees can be earned online now?

    The Age of Entitlement

I mentioned Kim Kardashian as the "new" Paris Hilton to simply add on to your point. I don't think anyone admired Paris Hilton. She was "famous for being famous."

    The Age of Entitlement

But much of "reality TV" is about "regular" or poor folks like Honey Boo Boo, and YouTube sensations are about bad behavior gone viral. Also, Kim Kardashian has replaced Paris Hilton long ago.

    The Age of Entitlement

No- those people don't know they are "famous."

    The Age of Entitlement

I'm on topic. Wanting to be the center of attention is part of entitlement today.

    The Age of Entitlement

I do think that "stuff" has somewhat been replaced with "the spotlight." People want attention at any cost.

    The Age of Entitlement

I don't think a child can have too much genuine affection, because love wants what's best for the other and so would generally exclude creating a spoiled brat. Maybe too many undeserved/unrealistic statements ("compliments", "appraisals", "Special Snowflake" etc) I can see, absolutely. As far as...

    are we becoming too self-centered?

I love my life and have it good and have always been community-service oriented. Isolation and fleeting loneliness, especially when "different," is a normal part of the human experience. Thanks.

    are we becoming too self-centered?

Thanks for asking, you are consistently kind and not self-centered or self-absorbed. :) I still feel the same as far as being relatively alone (where I live) in my appreciation of the past, but I've been channeling my energy into creative and productive (I hope) ways which is helping. :)

    are we becoming too self-centered?

Hello. :) I'm saying you can be both- a person who is centered- knows who she/he is- and can therefore have integrity, and want what's right and best for YOU while, at the same time, not expecting the world/others to cater to those desires/wants/needs. Otherwise, it is narcissistic. Perhaps...

    are we becoming too self-centered?

There's a difference between being "centered" and self-centered meaning you don't acknowledge that you share the world with others who are to be treated with respect and consideration.

    are we becoming too self-centered?

Shame is alive and well. It's what people without it do to those who do have it.

    are we becoming too self-centered?

Yes, and we'd get along just fine, I think! ;)

Are you ever tired of explaining why you live or dress the way you do?

In my life I take the best of the past and bring it into my present life. We all live in the present; some of us are just better at taking charge of how we think and feel, and managing the setting (homes) in which we can truly be ourselves. It's not a stage or props or role-playing. It's who I...

Are you ever tired of explaining why you live or dress the way you do?

Then why do you use that as a reason to not favor things of the past?
