Got some New boots for winter. House brand from a Norwegian shoemaker. They are called, Dagestad Hamar and based on old Norwegian "beksøm boots". Thick suede on these.
Pretty perfect. I find the wool backed quilted lining in my 30's halfbelt "lifts" the jacket a bit on my shoulders. That may not be the case in an older jacket where most of the "puff" is worn out :D
I hear the numbers are spiking in California again. Looks like there's still some way to go before you get rid of it. Saw some crazy 4th of july videos as well... People look fed up.
Great fit though :D :D
Yeah, I haven't seen this label on other jackets either. The zipper has "Talon" down the middle of the stop so I guess that dates it to mid to late 40's. The side-gatherers don't seem as substantial as the ones I've seen on similar jackets, but I guess that could be era-dependent. I'm curious...
This is how far I Will go with this. A little coat of beeswax and rigorous horsehair brushing. This jacket needed some moisture and I think this keeps most of the beautiful patina intact.
Thanks! Lucked out really. No way I could have known that a jacket beat up as much as this is pretty much perfectly, structurally sound. Just honest wear really.
I think I hit the jackpot on this one. Crazy pattern making as it is my smallest jacket by far, but the most comfortable to wear. No pinching anywhere. Debating on doing the Thedi beeswax treatment as there is a lot of surface wear. Gonna enjoy it for now. This one also has the vented back.
Not flight jackets. But "Highway Patrol" from the 50's is loaded with great leather jackets. The series is on Youtube. Here is a great one of Clint in a Half-belt and John Compton in a CHP.
