I don’t mind a shorter back, I dislike a short front though, I’ve never liked that look and never will. This actually sits right at my belt in back, about 1” below it in front. Hard to tell b/c the liner is unattached at the back hem and is sagging a bit. Without the vest it’s actual length is a bit more apparent? No doubt it’s shorter though. I’d say 26-26.5” on a blunt hem is good for me and I’d subtract 1-1.5” for a drop front.

It looks nice as is to my taste, that's the length I like in MCs.

Pretty perfect. I find the wool backed quilted lining in my 30's halfbelt "lifts" the jacket a bit on my shoulders. That may not be the case in an older jacket where most of the "puff" is worn out :D
