    Show us your Trousers!

Incotex Italian Linen: name for waist treatment? Not vintage, I know, but definitely a classic look. I picked up three different colors of these Incotex trousers in Italian linen and one in cotton chino for resale but am stumped on how to describe the waist. There's a waistband in the front but...

Foreign accents by non natives in movies and TV

Famously (and thankfully), Clark Gable and Leslie Howard didn't even attempt Southern American accents in Gone With the Wind. Vivien Leigh's attempt at it... meh.

    Hawaiian Shirts - Aloha Shirts

Love that book and am so impressed with the Kamehameha shirts. The vintage and vintage-inspired aloha print designers really know how to make it interesting without making it "tourist".

The Thread to Display Your 1940s Suits

I mis-posted these in the 30s suit thread when inquiring about their age. Navy pinstripe, Hart Schaffner & Marx, Size 36, 30x30: Brown pinstripe, British Royal for King Brooks Detroit, Size 38, 36x27.5:

Foreign accents by non natives in movies and TV

Renee: I'm glad to hear a favorable opinion on her English accent from an Englishman because it always sounded great to me and I've previously heard British people put it down. As for her American southern accent (I haven't seen this movie), I find it surprising that she was so bad at it because...

    What Are You Reading

The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro. And luckily, I haven't seen the movie yet so waters haven't been muddied.

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

It sounded like you were trivializing my opinion. I realize now that you didn't mean it that way. Thanks for the apology. As for the other stuff, We'll just have to agree to disagree. :peace:

"Mad Men" on AMC (US) - (Spoilers Within)

Glad I gave you a laugh. I didn't realize that writers wrote bad, disjointed storyline/character development on purpose, just so they could bring it all together at the end. Seasons six and seven don't display the cohesiveness of the first five seasons. Since I watched the entire show in a...

    ADAM ALLEY

Thanks so much for the advice. I watched some youtube videos and gave it a light cleaning/brushing. I think the felt looks fab... except for the spots on the underside. I guess I'll just list it cheap and see if someone wants to have a go at the sweat band, or just use it for display.

What Did You Drink Last Night?

I first tried it during a trip to the UK in 2011. Loved it! It finally became available in the USA but it's difficult to find. A local liquor store agreed to order it for me. Delicious!

    ADAM ALLEY

Should this hat be saved? Granted, I'm no hat expert by a long shot, but this looked very fedora-like to me. I was able to find a couple newspaper ads (no pics) from 1950 of Adam Hats "The Strand" for $7.50 so I suppose that's pretty sure dating? The sweatband is shot but it still seems a nice...

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

This is a thrift store find. Already, both my son and my daughter want to take it off me, lol! It was a bit dusty so I gave it a good wash. I tested it with water and it works great.

The Thread to Display Your 1930s Suits

Thank you very much, I suppose I should have posted in a 40s suits thread, lol! Is there a way to measure "bagginess"?

The Thread to Display Your 1930s Suits

And the brown one... No union label or size label. "British Royal" styled for King Brooks Inc, Detroit. Jacket chest measures 42" so I suppose that would make it a size 38. Pants w/Conmar zip have waist 36", inseam 27.5", rise 14.5", cuff width 9.5". The pants have some condition issues: a...

The Thread to Display Your 1930s Suits

30s or 40s for these two suits? I'm still learning when it comes to men's vintage. I picked up these two suits today, are they 30s or 40s? The blue one is in fabulous condition, I'll do photos of that one first and do the brown one in the next post. The blue one is a nice navy, my camera is...

    Levi's Belt Back.. Please date

I, too, am trying to educate myself... Is that dating because of the lowercase "e" in Levi's?
