I just got a whole bunch of magazines, a full year's volume - 1957 is the year. They are in a great condition and almost all of them still have sewing patterns in them. This kind of magazines have been getting ridiculously expensive over the last few years, but this really was a deal. Now, I'm one happy reader!

By now, I guess I must regard myself a collector of magazines. The storage is becoming a challenge - if anyone here is collecting magazines: how do you keep them safe, clean, and still accessible?

sealed plastic storage boxes under the bed for easy access reading...I've had around 100 'Cycling' and 'The Cyclist' from the mid 1930's to mid 50's under the bed stored thus for around 10 years with no degrading at all.

Do you have them lying or standing in the boxes? The idea appeals to me (not perfect but the best so far), I got to check what kinds of boxes are being sold and if they fit under my short legged bed. Thank you for sharing :)

Doctor Who fans know the 9th Doctor wore a WW2 style Un-Boat jacket. It is said that it was designed after an actual jacket of the period.
Now I can confirm that. Recently on eBay I found the exact jacket as seen on Christopher Eccleston. Here are a few pics. I also own a copy by Bad Wolf. The 2 are nearly identical stitch for stitch with the exception that the TV jacket (and Bad Wolf) have a silk sleeve lining replacing the original which had elastic near the w2rists to keep out cold weather.

Even more remarkable than finding this specimen is that there is no damage to it inside or out... except for some Kriegsmarine buttons that were quite loose. I have since replaced them with appropriate black buttons. The black leather outside is perfectly worn and even can appear brown in some light just like the one on Doctor Who. To top it all off... it is My Size!

Hi All,

Since I participate in era fashion with my Model A club they want accessories to match the clothes. So I got this wallet and proof that it was around in 1928! I just put some Pecards on it and it soaked it right up, I just need to put a second or third coating on it. I have one question that I hope you gurus can answer. There are some parts where the thread has broken and the wallet is coming apart. How do I fix it? Restitch or use a dab of glue? the stitching is very fine and my Singer can't replicate it and I don't think I am that good to try.

One of my most recent buys, a General Electric GE HJ-612 tube radio. My only gripe is it's missing one of its original knobs, other than that, I actually love how rough and aged it is, crooked grill, missing glass and all. It does work though, I'm told, although I'm still waiting for it to arrive in the mail.
