I have an Aero jacket, not an A2 with Harris Tweed lining and would say it is more on the lighter side of medium weight. Not heavy or thick at all but thicker and heavier than a standard A2 lining. No one will roast in it unless it's a hot day. The weave is quite open and breathable
Agree Havana Club is OK but my go to everyday rum is Santiago de Cuba Anejo. I find it far superior. After trying out a different rum I always find it comforting going back to this old faithful. In Australia it is about 20% cheaper than Havana Club Anejo. It is fantastic value.
i know he went on his great adventure and had to pull out due to mechanical trouble but he has disappeared from here. Last seen August 28th? Arguably the most knowledge poster here and now missing. Hope he comes back.
I tried the coffee treatment as well as activated charcoal. Both seem to work for a while but musty smells returned. Dry cleaning has cured a couple of my leather jackets but hessitant to try out with true vintage gear. However this week I learned from someone that I should try granulated kitty...
I don't see this jacket on the MF website. The rest of their newly released 10th Anniversary collection looks brillliant and none have the external logo on them same as all their other listed outerwear. This might just be a one off release. I have few of their pieces and am blown away by their...
When Aero were still offering the Waterfront jacket they said in their blurb that the original was red and they were still trying to source the correct colour wool and hoped to offer it in the future. As to the images of the real Brando jacket in the public domain, the few colour photos of it I...
Here is Brando in On The Waterfront with his similar A2 style wool red jacket in colour and in panchromatic B&W. I would agree the OP's jacket is more likely shades of green with black but no way to tell for sure.
Are you sure? I thought it was the other way around. Orthochromatic film renders red darker to almost black and blue and green lighter. I don't think those photos are in Ortho, more like panchromatic as the tones look realistic. The faces are too pale. European skin tones are rendered darker...
Though not in Europe, you can try Steve Sellers from the US who posts here as Steve S. Makes great jackets, is very flexible and comfortable with one off projects. Very agreeable person to deal with. Has made jackets for members here including myself.
For something from the other sides POV, the Japanese film ARMY or RIKUGUN made in 1943 is an outstanding war film on the mindset conditioning for war of the Japanese people. The director Keisuke Kinoshita got into a lot of trouble for subverting the films intended propaganda elements.
Try MASH militaria in Japan. I have bought one from them in the past and they appear to have some in stock. They are NOS.

I believe the resistance of leather will be pretty good in case of fire. Will take a while to burn through due to its thickness and toughness. One would be likely already dead from heat and smoke under conditions where a leather jacket will catch alight and burn through to the next layer...
Chinese quality is variable. It's all a matter of cost. In the wholesale garment district of Guangzhou one can see thousands of different styles on offer from hundreds of suppliers. Commercial buyers come from all over the world and can order any amount from a dozen jackets to thousands for...
Looks like some non descript fashion leather most likely cow. The label has all the hallmarks of classic Chinglish likely generated from a primitive computer translator program. I would say almost certainly of Chinese manufacture IMO. Where else can one find delicacies like fried crap(crab)...
I have had two leather jackets cleaned by a dry cleaner with excellent results recently. The first was an old never cleaned 1960's Schott fringed suede Rancher jacket which had stains, bad smells, grungy impacted suede texture and rumpled lining. Came out nice, most of the stains were gone and...
