The jacket is actually on the "tight" side, so it's not really that big. The photo and pose distort the fit, so you can't really tell.
But those shoulders are a full 20". I need an 18" shoulder. That is the only issue with the jacket.
Just for general info, here is a photo with me in a US Authentic G-1, size 40R. The coat is very nice, but at 20", the shoulders are about 1.5" / 2.0" too wide.
Two inches / 5 cm is enough of a difference to make the jacket too large. The remainder of the jacket is Ok, just the waist is big. This large of a difference cannot be attributed to the different workers habits, or sloppiness. I believe it is a design change in the make/cut of the jacket.

Getting to the advice given by sales reps, every time they assisted in the size selection and the following purchase, the jacket was too large. From G&B, USWings, and Cockpit. They all seemed to harbor a major fear of the jacket actually being on the small side, so they err on the large side...
Dealing with sales reps at these companies is one thing, but my contact has been with the owner. She has always been very nice and helpful in the past.
However, when I mentioned both issues with this jacket, being a terrible chemical odor, and the waist being too large, she acted very...
The first G-1 (Mil-Spec Navy 42R) had a classic fit. Perfect, but perhaps a tad small. But it was very flattering to my average build, 5' 11", 170-175 lbs.
The new one is not flattering at all, being larger through the waist. My size/shape has not changed, so it's not me!
Again, the folks at...
I like the older one too. Better color in the collar for sure. And a much better fit. A 40R is on it's way here, so will have a good chance to try both sizes on for fit. One jacket will go back.
Just got this new Mil-Spec G-1, size 42R. It is larger through the waist than my first one, also a 42R. By about 2+ inches.
I contacted Jacky, and she says their patterns have not changed. Whatever, it does not have the "glove like" fit that my previous G-1 had.
Note the collar is a different...
Jacky (Owner - CP USA) told me that it's common for there to be a variation from jacket to jacket of 1/2" (+/-) on the same size. That is, my 42R might not be the same as your 42R.
I have discovered the best remedy for this is to stand with near perfect posture, standing straight, with shoulders back and squared. If you slouch over, or get sloppy in your posture, the next thing is the Bat Wing phenom.
Cockpit Mil-Spec Navy G-1, size 42R.
These measurements were painstakingly taken, with utmost care. Jacket zipped up, placed flat on a table, face down.
Shoulder = 18.5"
Pit to Pit = 23"
Length = 22" (25.5" including waistband)
Width = 20" (bottom of leather)
Width = 18" (waistband)
Sleeve =...
Please riddle me this, Batman - Exactly what is the root cause of "batwings" on G-1 jackets?
Some jackets will lie perfectly flat in the back area, and others will "poof out". Is this from being too small in size? Or is it from the cut / sewing, and manufacture of the jacket?
I'm certain...
