The History/Evolution of Birth Control *Ladies Only*

Try pregnancy? What a wonderful thread! Thank you LD and Lizzie for keeping it on track. I started taking the pill when I was 17. When I used condoms I insisted on using MINE. Condoms I knew had been kept in a cool dark place. Now I am taking Diane-35 for my acne. I was miserable...

Curlers - what am I doing wrong?!

That happens to me all the time. Especially if I'm outside and it's a bit windy. I just keep a little pocket brush with me when I go out.

Curlers - what am I doing wrong?!

Sounds like you figured out how to put a curl in your hair. Now it's time to experiment with different roller placement/setting patterns. I think there is a thread of setting patterns. Be careful with how you roll the hair onto the roller; you may want to try end papers. I would also...

Everyday Women of the Golden Era

jackpot! Hey everyone! I'm out here on holiday in BC with my parents. And my mom is giving me a ton of awesome pictures of her family and ancestors. Here are just a few. The first pic is from ~ 1910. The little girl on the right, in the front row (with the big white bow) is my mom's...

How often do you wash your hair? (guys & gals)

I CO wash every 2-3 days. More often when it's necessary - hot and humid weather, product overload or a good workout.

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

Hmmm, sounds tricky. I have very little experience with vintage fabric. If it were me, I would use the dress as a template to make a new dress just the way I like.

Do you use a regular sized ironing board? I get so frustrated trying to iron large items. I would like to get/make some sort of ironing table. But maybe I just need to organize my ironing space better.

    Peeling flaking nails

My nails do this occasionaly. If my nails are long enough, I cut them just below the 'pale moon' that indicates the start of peeling. This way it doesn't keep seperating, causing even more peeling. I guess it's like trimming split ends. I don't know how to prevent it though. I would talk...

    Show us your vintage patterns!

I would check the measurements and instructions once it arrives. It is odd. I can always tell the teen patterns from other companies because the models have little button noses and rosy cheeks. But those definitely look like women. What did the item description say?

    Ski slope nails

Congrats on quitting bitting your nails! I would keep them shorter like Grant Fan suggested. Maybe the flexibility isn't so bad if they are getting caught all the time. I would also recommend the dermatologist.

    Ben Nye Makeup

My mom got me the Creme Foundation in P-43 Alabaster and some powder in Translucent Fair. At first, I was trying to apply it like other cream foundations I've used and it was SOOOO cakey and pastey. A little goes a REALLY REALLY long way - less is more. I need very little to do my whole face...

Wing Bust Halter Top Here is the second muslin for the pattern I drafted with my PatternMaster. All I need is to reduce the ease in the waist and hips and create a lining and halter straps.
