    Nothing but Seamed Stockings

I found several pairs of vintage stockings at my local(ish) thrift store. The sizes are very strange to me and this thread certainly clears that up. I have one pair that I LOVE, they are nude, seamed with a cuban heel. They fit nicely on the foot but they are really long. I think the size...

    The ones that got away

I found this pattern with 5 minutes left, 2 bids, for less then 6USD (after shipping). I hummed and haaahed and then decided that there were probably several other bidders and snipes lurking so I let it go. I watched the countdown, waiting to be amused by the flurry of activity, and nothing...

    Mom called it rouge

Ditto what everyone says. Rouge is just another name for blush. It's french for 'red'. "Rouge a levres" or lip rouge is for lipstick even though it doesn't have to be 'red'.

Show me your Freddies! I'm trying to draft a pair of jeans similar to the Freddies of Pinewood. The side zipper has me stumped. Could someone who owns a pair take pictures of the hidden zipper?

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

I'm not sure those cutouts are faced. It looks like the fabric may be a synthetic non-woven which wouldn't require finished edges. The cutouts are so crisp and smooth. Have you every considered radiating cutouts around the front neckline? That wouldn't be too tough to draft and face. I've...

    What is your eye color?

My eyes are blue. They get lighter if I'm in the water for a long time. I originally thought it was from my hair and eyebrows darkening when they get wet. Increasing the contrast and making my eye look lighter. But it doesn't happen when I shower or have a bath.

Thanks HepKitty! I can't sell it because I used PatternMaster software. However, I'll eventually do a tutorial on how to draft it on my blog.

Thank you crwitt. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about swing dancing. However, a very talented gentleman asked for a dance! He did all the leading and I just went along as best as I could. I really loved it! I wish they had lessons here.

I finally finished my wing bust halter top. I designed it using PatternMaster and I wore it for the first time this weekend at the Red Hot and Blue Rockabilly Weekend in Montreal. Sorry it's so fuzzy but it's the best pic that shows the shirt.

All these patterns are gorgeous! Lauren - I see this skirt a lot in 30's 40's fashion - correct me if I am wrong. Is it a straight skirt or is there a tiny bit of flare a at the bottom? I can never be sure from the illustration.

    Weight loss options

I'm avoiding wheat these days. I too was a carb-oholic! Making a list of all my wheaty faves and finding wheat free replacements really helped me. Instead of peanut butter toast, I now have peanut butter with an apple. Instead of honey nut cheerios, I have hot flax (or quinoa) cereal with...

How often do you wash your hair? (guys & gals)

Wahine- have you tried CO washing? I also found that when I started CO washing my hair didn't hold a curl as well. But since my hair isn't as frizzy with the CO washing I can do wet sets (instead of dry) and I get nice curls without all the frizz.

    Sewing Lessons & FAQ

Is the dress sleevless? What kind of skirt does the dress have? If you take in the bust at the side seam, and the skirt has sleeves, you would have to take them out and alter them slightly as well. If the skirt is fitted you might be able to get away with simply taking in the side seam. If...
