Rodkins,
That is an incredible grey hat! Looks terrific on you, great shape.
Josh,
That is an awesome Adam hat too. The ribbon and wide edge binding make that one cool lid.
Thanks Alterego.
I have been fascinated with hats since age 2 or 3 and there are pictures of me as a 4 year old wearing a fedora in my sleep.
I recall being with my dad in the early 60's when he'd shop and I would handle hats on the old hat trees they had them on in many stores. I had no...
What I would really like to know that might lead to some different opinions: Is there anyone here who is "experienced" enough that they sampled and purchased hats 50 to 60 years ago? If so, did they feel as great back then as those same hats do today?
My curiosity is do the new factory hats of...
I think the tape measuring thing is more difficult to achieve accuracy in with some head shapes. I have a lot of taper in my skull and a slight up or down placement of tape gives different numbers. Wear your best fitting most comfortable hat and then take it off and have someone help with tape...
I'm liking that Homburg on you and it is a REALLY nice one too.
I see the comments about the photo of liner being reversed. You must need to go into your Mac settings for photos. All of your photos are reversed I assume since the bow is on the wrong side and I think some box on table in...
Keep it on. If it is an intimate place with lots of personal contact then off it comes. If it is a very public, mostly strangers place then they don't want to see your "hat head" and the worry of taking care of hat with it not on your head makes it more trouble than it is worth.

Do you work with Homer Simpson?
Thanks to you guys who hide in the background for the attention to keeping this site up and running and current.
The Empire looks great on you. I could lie and say I'm so sorry the Knox didn't fit but I won't! The Knox is a great one and it is on my top 5 list of my hats and the other 4 are westerns. Thanks for selling it.
The hats (including Edward G Robinson's) all look like Homburg's with little roll on brim. IS that what they are or did fedoras of the pre-war days have more roll at brim edge?
I caught the end of an old movie on THIS network the other day and the hats worn by several in that movie looked like...
I used to think opinions given by politicians were hard to pin down but I now know the X count on hats is by far the most difficult to evaluate.
About the only thing you can generalize about X count is that they used to mean a lot more than they do today.
For the earliest hatmakers to use X...
The photo of those two speaks to me also.
The problem is that it says that those two just entered the hallway of some building where shopping carts full of your worldly belongings are not allowed when you enter to use the public showers.
Maybe there is a casting call for a re-make of Grapes of...
OK, this has to be a mean prank. Somebody puts a well photographed pristine Stetson 100 in my size on here as a $50 find at a second hand store and says they didn't buy it. No address either.
Go ahead and tell me you found a 67 Corvette with a 427 and side pipes that an angered divorcing lady...
WOW, every time I see one of your shots I move back 6 decades (I wasn't around then) to a time when men dressed with style like you do. That Whippet is so YOU. Looks fantastic teamed with your wardrobe choices.
I will state that I am a relaxed etiquette person as it regards hats. My anxiety about hat hair and hat damage is greater than my feelings of offensiveness to others. The hat on my head stands no chance of causing permanent wrinkles or stains on any item of clothing they might have on but me...
I guess that golden era has ended. Persons who can ratchet odometers forward with a properly bent rigid wire with a rubber tip without removing the instrument cluster were obsoleted by digital displays.
My highly developed skill to discern true milage from pedal wear, seat track wear, and rear...
