As a rule, in the distant past photos were taken on formal occasions. Not everyone had a camera handy and the film and processing was expensive. As a result photos tended to be dressy and posed. If you don't think a fedora looks appropriate with a t-shirt then it will look that way if you wear it. A well worn fedora and t-shirt looks cool to me on those who own that style. I'm in my 50's and wear jeans a LOT. Khakis, chinos, gabardine, etc. dress pants really don't work too well...- suitedcboy

I think they got this etiquette thing all hosed up a long time ago. A hat is worn a relatively clean and low odor part of one's body. The Top Breed is a nice hat but it is not finished as nice as a Black Gold and is a coarser felt. If it's a silver belly western semi-vintage hat you're after that is a quality hat, look for a Diamond Horseshoe Resistol.- suitedcboy

I agree wholeheartedly! The only REAL reason to remove hat in a restaurant is if you are eating something that will get on your hat.
