I though I recognised James Hughes jacket. I had been in contact with him for months with a possibility of buying it but the journey put me off. He did say it was from a very small batch. You got a real bargain there so enjoy it !
Do you need two though.......
Are you sure this is Warhorse?
The Warhorse version on the Eastman site has button pockets. I think Gary did make a very small number of snap pocket jackets with the earlier less grained WH so it could be one of those.
Can we see some shots of the older jacket please ?
My first A1 was about 15 years ago from Aero. At the time is was the only real repro I could afford.
They weren't that popular back then but has really become a must have. I should have kept it it would look amazing by now.
Sadly I sold mine but I can honestly say these are very nice jackets and a treat to wear. My friend Ian has had several versions of A1 and he has sold all of them apart from the Eastman. This design only works in Capeskin and Gary has nailed it.
There is a whole thread on Aero's revamped Irvins so why start another ?
No I am not an Aero rep but for some one who wants to learn about their jackets it is a strange thing to criticise in the way you have without having seeing one.
The loan jacket was a good length,it came down below the waist so covered the lower back. Tapering was not an issue but remember this jacket would have been worn with shearling trousers which were bulky.
The Aero is the most comfortable the LW the most solid. Coffee or tea, beer or wine , Jag or Benz ? Personal taste is a funny thing.
I think LW set out to make their jacket from the thickest goatskin the densest sheepskin the most amazing sewing possible (probably) The result is a true icon...
I have had another look at what I originally assumed to be wobble sewing lines to discover that I was wrong. In fact Bertie had followed a very subtle change in direction on the shoulder detail rather than pursuing a completely straight line.
My mistake so now 10 out of 10.
