I am always a bit reluctant to say things like this, even if it is some anonymous model on the internet who will never be "hurt" by my comments, but....the guy makes the coat look like a homeless person's ratty, smelly, thrid hand coat.
I just noticed this. Single breasted, wool, but somehow lacking something to my eye anyway. The epaulettes I can go either way with but the collar doesn't excite me. The fit looks a bit bland. Any opinions on how it looks and if a good tailor could or should do anything to it...
Back from the dead comes this thread. Tony B mentioned that there were single breasted u-boat jackets for enlisted men. Has anyone a picture or two of these or maybe a link to a seller?
Something I hadn't realized before is how a center seam down the back of the jacket reduces all that blousing, just as darts in a shirt reduce the puffiness in the shirt back. This may be a better option than eliminating the gussets even. Take a look at the Sunburst as an exterme example. It...
I simply like the way I look in black leather jackets. I don't wear much black clothing other than jackets and shoes. i feel some of it, t-shirts especially, give a moody, depressed teenager look.
The only jackets I like in brown are big jackets: Top coats, barnstormers, trenches, leather...
Carlos, I have a similar issue--a decent drop from chest to waist, for my height at least. I do sometimes worry that the strong taper can be, as someone put it, "a bit Style Forum". On the other hand, the baggy look doesn't suit me. I need to find the balance.
Someone on this forum, I don't remember who, posted pictures of his half belt that he had tapered to avoid the blousy effect of the belt or side fasteners. I remember being impressed , though he didn't post many pictures of it. MAybe it ended up working for him, maybe not.
I have heard people say the 30s HB is an athletic fit, which to me means tapered havily from shoulders to waist, but it seems they may just mean it is a skinnier fit, not athletic.
Is it always the case that half belt jackets have less taper than the cafe racer? I am talking Aero specifically. Pictures seem to show this to be the case, but I never had a half belt myself. How much difference is there and can the side adjusters on the half belt be tightened to the point...
Help for the color blind needed. Would the very very subtle blue tones in the Aero midnight blue help it match--or go better-- with more colors or less than the warmer standard black? Yes, black is said to go with everything but people say it can be a little difficult compared to another...
I was wondering how open Lost Worlds is to using different leathers. I think they do amazing work but i find the leather too heavy. I want something that breaks in a bit.
That explains it. Thanks.
Suppose I order a cafe racer without the gussets or bi swing back and it is made from the same pattern. Then the manufacturwer would either add extra room in the back if it is for riding or leave it alone and tighter than usual if it is for casual wear? Am i making...
Tell me a bit about your backround. How long have you been doing this? Did you start with leatherworking, like bags and belts or did you begin with shirts and the like?
Your jackets look fabulous.
For you guys on the shorter side, could you tell me how long your jackets are. I am interested in the shorter style jackets like the cafe racers, highwayman, cossack, etc--measuring from collar seam to bottom in the back.
Letting me know about how tall you are as well would be a great help...
