Haven't quite figured out this new system. I usually have a great deal of respect for the Himel creations, but that jacket seems, I dunno, like some kind of strange birth, a mooncow. It could be a scrubs jacket for a really dubious hospital.

It looks pretty cool zipped up; I don't see it being wearable left open. Great riding/racing jacket, which is, of course, its original purpose.

It's merely a matter of personal taste. My own opinion is that I simply prefer Allied military flight jackets, and that brown (and its reddish variants) evoke an image of that chapter of history and of the best and bravest heading off into the wild blue yonder. My ANJ4 has brown oil pull horsehide trim, and I think that sets off the seal brown sheepskin and shearling quite nicely. It conveys a dedication, a singularity of focus, and a devotion to duty and comrades. I don't believe that an all- black jacket conveys that, or what a russet or even seal brown A-2 convey.

Just as I don't hate cats (but prefer dogs), I don't "hate" black leather jackets at all... although meandering too far down that 1950's greaser hoodlum- look byway really tests my limits of tolerance in that regard.

I love BOTH black leather jackets and brown leather jackets equally. I attempt to match my leather jacket to other aspects of my attire, including my shoes, belt and shirt. If I am wearing black shoes and/or a black or gray shirt, I will almost always select a black jacket. Conversely, if I am wearing brown shoes and/or an earth tone shirt, I will almost always select a brown jacket. Therefore, I require both brown and black jackets in my wardrobe, and do not prefer one over the other.

Many here are less concerned with color coordination and, instead, focus on military leather jackets and historical accuracy. Given that military jackets were made almost exclusively from brown leather, as opposed to black leather, jacket enthusiasts of this breed likely have less interest in black leather.

Others here are passionate about biker jackets. While brown leather was occasionally used for the original biker jackets, black leather clearly predominated. Jacket enthusiasts of this type likely gravitate towards black leather, and may be less interested in brown leathers.

I personally prefer biker and civilian leather jackets over military jackets. Yet, I also desire brown leather. Therefore, many of my brown leather jackets are repros of jackets that are more commonly made in black.

"Hatred" is such a harsh word to be bandied about by jacket enthusiasts. Live and let live. Black leather is beautiful. Brown leather is beautiful. Blue leather is . . . . I am not there yet (sorry Nick).

I've always thought of a black jacket as a plus, never a negative. Black is more of challenge to find in vintage wear except MC which is a challenge to find in brown. I have predominantly black in my vintage jackets. probably about half and half with newer jackets. Seems browns dominate in the new market.

I know you're not enthusiastic about military jackets, but at least admit the blue Nylon L-2 is king of the jungle.

Although there are black "leather" animals: cows, horses, etc. Typically, back leather clothing just looks artificial to me. Even the high-end products. Occasionally, high-end black leather that has some depth to the color can look pretty nice. IMO, most black leather products just look like the leather was spray dyed or something. I am generalizing. There are some cool black leather coats for sure but I don't own any nor plan on it. I DO like very dark seal brown. if black, gotta be very old and worn with undertones coming through!

just my own opinion, but since I like silver metal for accessories rather than yellow/ gold
to me black matches better with silver than brown
