    Show us their hats!

Going thru family albums to select images for a funeral service I ran across these of my grandfather and grand mother. First is my grandfather at 16 in 1920, he is on the left (his brother is on the right). Grandparents decked out circa 1940. ' While no hat were present, I find these pre war...

Yes...it is a trade off....packable wool is heavier/bulkier (much thicker than most fur felt), but really holds it shape well (but then is next to impossible to reshape). And the packable fur felts are much thinner and lighter, CAN be re-shaped, but need to be treated with care, and not REALLY...

This one is true to size......has cloth sweat which always feels differant. EVERY packable fur felt I have (including this one) needs considerable steam and attention to turn back into a decent shape after unrolling them. While they ARE extreemly light they are rather delicate........you...

    Lovely Liners

And one of my favorite logos on an EARLY 40's Adam "SkyLark" liner (obvious play off the then popular Stetson Stratoliner...and well everything Air Travel) a thin ribbon bound edge clone.

    Lovely Liners

And an Interesting liner from a Stetson Custom 4X (semi-Modern). It is also sweat stamped and has a nice sterling NRA (letters, not the full logo) ribbon pin too......

What hat are you waiting for today?

Nice Hats!! Good finds..... I noticed this I know they sold the name to an internet retailer from somewhere...but I sure miss their actual brick and mortar store. Nothing beats, looking at and trying on hats in person!! :(

One of those new Ultra Light Stratoliners.........It's ok I guess......especially after I re-blocked it and creased it the way I wanted. It has a nice heathered appearance but also a bit of the "Cat Slept ON it and IN it" look. Will post more about it in the Modern Stratoliner page......

    Lovely Liners

This is not my hat.....ran across it on the Bay I think...BUT.....is this not one of the UGLIEST liners you have ever seen!?!?!?!?!?!? Sorry if it hurts your eyes......... Sometimes I wonder just what the people at Stetson are thinking.....or in this case...what the heck WERE they...
