Ask a question, get an answer

Movie/TV magic........Allan Hale Senior was also shown on screen wearing hats that were both too small, and worn in such a way they would not stay on your head walking let alone out in a breeze..........don't want to cover the face even a little from the camera. Here he is in a hat that...

    The Dobbs Diner...

With the plain slant impressed Dobbs on the sweat and the patent from 1940 (and the $10 price tag), you have a early to mid-40's hat there.....NICE!

    HATTERS, CLEANERS, AND DYERS!!!!!

Yes....I like that. Most of my really early stuff and wholesale supply catalogs are from "other than Stetson" so that works. I will say I need to look around for a HH bar/ruler scanner. Would make it easier to copy the bound materials. I even have multiple Hatters magazines and annuals with...

    HATTERS, CLEANERS, AND DYERS!!!!!

And from yet one more....1915. I find the "western" styes intriguing....they are more 19th century "Plains" style with the low crowns and "never flop" flat brims......some of the fedoras in this catalog have the wild bows common in the mid-teens.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I situations like that the buyer was not INTENTIONALLY misrepresenting the item, they were giving information as they understood it. Fraud is Knowingly and INTENTIONALLY misrepresenting an item to increase its value/desirability. BIG difference from citing possible family provenance. Though...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Agreed......I don't understand at all how he gets away with it. Quite frankly...he is committing a fraud by legal definition..........I guess Ebay does not care as long as the dollars are rolling in. Perhaps you should add stories to your listings........trace the hats back to the "Wild...

How do folks react to your hat wearing?

Wearing one of my modern "Stetsonions" yesterday up at a historic site in view of the Packers stadium in Green Bay.....I stirred positive comment from a volunteer (who was wearing a nice custom himself) as well as members of the public and especially the re-enactors at the site........and...
