Vintage 1970s Stetson 4X that had an RCA bash (I think) - gave it a more "1950s western" look with a teardrop. Braided leather band is from Outwest Saddlery.
EDIT: Wow, that pic was horrible - replaced the original pic with this one. Uploaded the other pic from my phone & didn't know how...
Thanks - the hat, though nothing special, is quickly turning into a favorite. Yes, Paris Hatters has always treated me well. I'm also lucky to live about an hour from Texas Hatters who also provides excellent service. I've had them do some custom work for me. Great folks all around.
I know some of you do this yourself, so maybe it's not a big deal to you, but I was more than impressed by Paris Hatters fixing my brim yesterday. When I walked in I was greeted by the owner, Abe Cortez. After exchanging our usual pleasantries, he asked what I needed. I showed him the nick in...
Picked up this vintage (late ‘60s-early ‘70s) Resistol 5X cattleman hat last weekend in a Comfort, TX, antique shop - it has a small nick in the brim edge, otherwise it looks almost unworn. Very soft - unlike the usually "stiff-as-a-board" westerns of that era and later. I have a 7X Resistol...
Picked up this vintage (late ‘60s-early ‘70s) Resistol 5X cattleman hat last weekend in a Comfort, TX, antique shop - $21 since it has a small nick in the brim edge, otherwise it looks almost unworn. I will get Paris Hatters to trim the brim for me and already have leather braided hatband on...
I have one ring from Herff-Jones (HS - 35+ years ago), one from Jostens (college - 25+ years ago), and my law school ring is Art Carved (20+ years ago). while I cannot speak to current quality, I am happy with all of three of them and can't really recommend one above the others.
Motion picture director William A. “Wild Bill” Wellman. While in Paris as an Ambulance driver during WW-I, Wellman joined the French Foreign Legion and was assigned as a fighter pilot and the first American to join N.87 escadrille in the Lafayette Flying Corps. As a combat pilot in 1917-18...
Two-for-one: Major John Glenn (Left) and Captain Ted Williams discussing aerial maneuvers while drinking their morning coffee at K-3 Air Force Base in South Korea, 1953.
Vintage Stetson cattleman (I think – might have been an old Resistol?) that turned out to have a hole it when I received it – decided to keep it and replicate John Wayne’s cavalry hat. I no longer have the hat (I was disappointed when I found out it didn’t make me look like the Duke), but was...
Vintage Resistol Hi-Sierra – came to me with an RCA crease – changed that to a tall diamond (didn’t like it) and finally it decided it wanted to be a “Gus.”
