Hi guys, any idea of the age of this Stetson Special? 40s? Late '30s?
My wife sent me these pics today. She saw the hat in an antique store. No size tag but I like the price for a refurb if it fits... which I highly doubt, but you never know. I'll call the store for some measurements...
My lid from yesterday. A Dobbs in inky black. I'm in a classic rock and blues band and it's one of my band hats. We had a show last night so the Dobbs got the call...
Here's me (playing my 1970 Fender Precision bass):
Here's the whole band for your viewing pleasure. I'm hiding in the back...
Thanks! Yes, it's been in the 80s and muggy the last few days here in Milwaukee, but today it finally broke. Felt weather!

Hi all. Posted this new to me Dobbs porkpie in the new hat thread yesterday. I took it in the John at the Brass Rooster here in Milwaukee to clean it up and put a lovely diamond on it. Love the look and the felt is great. Would this be mid-to-late '50s? (Only problem is it is a true 7-1/4 and...
Thanks. Yes, great lid and the felt is really really nice. Your right though, crown is very short. I'll try a shallow diamond but no matter what it'll have to sit higher on my noggin than I'm used to wearing my hats.

Picked up these three at an antique store today.
The back bow Mallory porkpie has very nice felt. The size is stamped under the band. Looks like 7-1/12?!? Fits like a 7-1/4 or a tight 7-3/8. Cost me $26.00:
This '60s stingy Champ is a bit tight and needs some shaping but should be a nice...
You spy a pile of killer hats at an antique store, get all giddy, and discover none of them fit you. Argh.
I found two vendors today with tasty lids that were made for munchkins. Oh well. I guess it makes finding the ones that fit that much better. All these were 6-7-8 - 7-1/8. And prices were...
Grabbed this Adams "Premier Quality" Pacesetter off of evilBay. Probably paid way too much for it but couldn't help myself. Just one of those hats you see that you just have to have, to steal my wife's justification term. :) Proportions I love for my main wearing lids, light brown, and those...
