The interesting thing is that Sam Walker jackets are now considerably rarer than the Aero jackets from which they originated and this may in some way explain the price differential for good ones. The SW H-2 is IMHO a better cut jacket than the Highwayman of a similar period ( yes - I have both)...
I've washed many jackets ( especially when they stink of smoke or damp ) .... on chrome tanned leather ... no ill effects ..... semi aniline or coated leathers generally ... no ill effects ..... on veg tanned and aniline leather you need to be REALLY careful on the drying. If you don't know...
There is no innersole to remove and as near as I can estimate with a tape measure is that the inner sole is 28cm ( this is really quite difficult to do :) ) .... the external sole is 30.5cm. My size 43 Nike innersole (28cm) fits it although is about 5mm narrower :)

Bought these a year ago and had William lennon remodel the sole and heel ( they came std. with a Commando Sole) ... they are finished showing the naked leather and layering. The heel and toe have a full steel blake and the sole has a Vibram rubber top-sole. Triple thickness sole and usual...
I use pockets on my jackets all the time ... from hands to phones to keys to junk :)
I never use chest pockets .... for me they're about as much use as an ashtray on a bike ... as such I have often dispensed with it on custom jackets !
While I love the flap and hand warmer design on my LHB...
The problem is the man in the street doesn't "see" or indeed know the historical provenance of the "Grizzly" motorcycle jacket ... they simply see this :

and respond accordingly ( or maybe it was just when I wore...
I get the market ... but they're priced above Alt-Berg's and deep into Daytona territory ... with none of the protection or features of either of these :( ... for the bike I wear modern bike boots ( having had a V-Max land on my ankle and use it as a sandwich filling between it and the road at...
I had an Aero "Palimino" grizzly about 10 years ago that I bought on ebay .... it was no different to wear than a regular jacket TBH. The issue was that the hair on hide "moulted" leaving baldish patches ... not totally bald but thin :(
I like the subtle nature of the black "hair on" hide...
I use Renapur all the time (mostly on shoes but also on jackets) great stuff and lasts a REALLY long time ... a little and often is the order of the day. Hasn't rotted stitching or done anything malicious to my jackets other than keeping them looking fine and helping the wear process :)
I'm not a big fan of the two tone thing but Theodorus makes some mighty fine leathers .... an with some really unusual design features. They know their market and have nailed the look IMHO.
I have a Cafe Racer in Clayton and it's really nice leather ... much softer hand than CXL but no lighter in weight. I am not a big fan of Shinki (had 2 Goodwears in Shinki and handled 2 SB's ... it's really nice but I didn't like the top coat and it just didn't "feel" as nice as others - it has...
I've had a few SB's over the last 3 years or so ..... when you say "slim" what do you mean ?
The SB hafbelt and Drifter are both pretty neat fitting .... the standard SB half belt is somewhere between a 1930's and a 1950's halfbelt from Aero ( having had both) ... my 42" SB half belt is...
The answer as always is ... it depends.
As mentioned in many previous threads I have very, very rarely seen a civilian jacket ( i.e. non military or motorcycle) jacket in anything which approached CXL weight hide. Those M/C jackets that I have seen in heavier weight hides have tended to be...
Worrying .. I buy (and sell) quite a lot on ebay .... and have used the GPS system fairly recently for international purchases and sales whiteout any issue to date.
May elect in future to only ship directly in future in light of this ...... thanks for the info Big J ( and others)
