This is more personal for some than I thought, I don’t mean to ruffle feathers. I did mention that I didn’t think of Thedi at the time I posted because though I appreciate the workmanship, I’m stuck on more classic North American designs. He is on my radar but I’d have to have a collection like...
I know of Thedi quality from your pictures and many others, I just didn’t include Thedi because he is in a league of his own, doing his own thing, subtle cues from vintage designs turned into his own modern interpretations. He clearly has it nailed and rightly so from what I read about him...
I say this as a proud owner of a North American Himel and with 2 Scottish jackets on order, Fields.
And I wouldn’t hesitate to order from any company around the world. I was pleasantly surprised in Indonesian boot brands Sagara & Junkard.
I would just like to see small details added to western...
I have to say I love looking at their designs, attentive to the maximum on details.
It seems like Rainbow Country plays around with ideas once in a while. This looks like a single or limited run with NOS zippers and unique labels.
I thought and still think they look good in photos of people wearing them but strangely when I received these, every single time I put them on with an outfit, they just didn’t seem to go with what I had on hand.
If they have to be replaced with wedge soles, I might try to find some with a...
Yeah they are Viberg, they were my first pair. Bought used and still more expensive than any boots I’ve purchased lol.
They were a collaboration with 3sixteen a while back, that’s what the seller said. It has a different heel material, almost like rubber, not sure.
The problem is hard to...
Love the classic designs but it’s nice to see a manufacturer and sing new unique design details like those curved pockets and sleeve cuffs.
Fits you great too
These I bought from a seller on Grailed which never mentioned anything about this. They are bowing or beveling on the sole, it’s hard to capture on photos but the sole is rounding.
Can this be fixed with a re-sole?
Would the midsole need to be replaced?
The were marked worn very little...
I see your point of view, it’s hard to put into words but I was always taught that the first thing women and people look at is your shoes, so basically I’m brainwashed into the idea that shoes should look new. It’s also a price thing for me, if I buy a pair of expensive boots I’m going to baby...
You know what is funny is my Himel has stretched about 1/2” in the chest already. Keep in mind it’s not Shinki but instead the Steerhide, but I just thought it strange because it was no where near tight in the chest in the fist place.
Thank you. I just know a zipped up baggy cross zip doesn’t look as good as a tight fit. I think they even look good tighter on guys that are heavy in the midsection, maybe the double layer of leather works like a waist trainer/corset. Just like a good suit can hide body shape.
CR’s can fit...
I’ve been contemplating a cross zip, maybe from Five Star, something I can get quickly but not from one of the types of makers with advice.
I wanted to know how much room in the Chest and bottom hem you go for, this will be worn open ost if the time. I can figure out how shoulders and sleeves...
Oh no Ofcourse not lol, I was saying it in a jokingly way. This was when I was a kid in college, early 2000’s when people were drinking natural ice and Busch beers, so in our young minds it was premium at the time. It got out of context but I was basically just referring to the grass is greener...
I would surely try a combination tanned Shinki from Greg if I had the opportunity. 1 pigment and the other Shinki CXL.
I guess if he just had enough requests like the Navy Blue Shinki he brought back, and the Brown pony he had a hard time matching. Atleast the combination tanned Shinki in black...
Since I had preordered the Field Leather which seemed value in Shinki, that is one of the factors to ordering the Kensington in steerhide. Of course it let me buy a Himel for a bit less and if he had CXL I would have chosen that. Only afterwards did I notice he had another Horween Leather he...
All this CXL talk makes me think of a couple Japanese articles where they love the quality of CXL and thought that Shinki horsehide was inferior (before I get yelled at, this was just two reviews so it means nothing) but I just chuckled because over here in the west we can’t get enough of...
It would probably cost you quite a bit if possible but I always see the leather companies asking if you would like it split. Is it possible for someone to split your hides for you if you had a desired thickness?
I know as long as I’m stuck in Florida with short and mild winters that a thick...
Though Lofgren boots are top notch, they are very pricey because keep in mind he is just a middle guy contracting them out to a factory in Japan. Nothing wrong with that but just know that you are paying a premium for that.
I wanted a pair of his m43 boots but then I noticed quite a few...
Those Bates had interesting design details, the way they rounded the chest pockets on some, and I think it’s one of the few jackets that I would prefer with the seam in the middle of the back panel. It just works. Even the collar had a rounded corner which made it different than the pointed...
