Just so nobody is overly worried, it's specifically the J&J vaccine that has an approximate 0.0008% risk of GB, i.e. 100 cases out of 12.5 mil doses in the US. An individual is still much more likely to develop GB after a viral or bacterial infection (an estimated 3k-6k Americans per year). GB...
unless it was horribly misaligned, and yours looks fine, the rear seam of the sweatband should be centered, more or less. So if you balance your hat off one finger, you can find the corresponding centerpoint on the outside of the crown by simply matching up your finger on the outside. Now you...
Ok, the pics of the RD Open Road were just posted.
3-ply band, so still wrong.
Unless....
Was there a transitional variation of the Open Road between the wide ribbon version and the traditional 4-ligne version we know today? When I was looking at the Miller Stockman thread the other night, I...
Our resident newspaper archive wizard @DaveProc recently posted some wide ribbon OR ads that he found through 1941. The first mention I found (during my insomnia) of a thin ribbon OR, in the Miller Stockman catalogs specifically, is from 1949 and 1950, though these ads list a 3-cord band. The...
Several custom hatters are well represented in their own threads.
In no particular order:

from my extensive sample size of three vintage Stetson nutrias (ca. 1910-20 Boss Raw Edge 'real nutria fur', 30's 3-ply band 'real Nutria quality, and then a later more mid century black 'Nutria quality'), I'd say that the earlier two definitely had a finer hand. The Boss Raw Edge especially...
Thanks! It was reblocked from 6 7/8 up to 7, and because I am more of a "measure once, cut twice" type I neglected to note the original dimensions. The crown is just over 5", the brim ended up about 2 3/8 in the front and 2 1/2 on the sides. I'm not sure if that dimensionality is original, or a...
Appreciate the 'likes' for the other day's Panama OR. The weather abruptly turned to autumn, so giving this newly reblocked German velour of unknown manufacturer a spin.
I'll bet if you send those pics to someone like Northwest Hats ($425 for western weight beaver) that your hat could get made.
Not the current iteration, but older versions of the Stetson Revenger are more or less this hat. There's a handful on eBay right now. It would need some brim work.
I did see that black hat...weird.
I think the Instagram post is talking about a different hat though. It says "coming soon. " That black one is apparently beaver, but zooming into the interior pic shows a Royal Deluxe stamping. The black "Open Road" also just has the Stetson crest liner.I
Thanks Alan, definitely took some inspiration from similar hats of yours. Forgot to also credit Garrett who passed it on to me.
Thanks Bob, happy to have this one.
Not all of the Excellent Quality hats carried the "Pure Beaver" stamp, but presumably all the Excellent Quality hats were the same felt.
The Pure hats are using the resurrected old style Pure Beaver imprinting, look at the inside view on Stetson.com. Presumably the whole point of the premium...
Thanks, gents. I pulled this one out of the box and immediately got a huge grin on my face. This is darn near a grail hat for me. The grail hat would be a Fray sweatband Boss Raw Edge, but at this point it's really splitting hairs!
