Not trying to be political, but was told that the covid vaccine has been known to cause guillain barre, which has no cure. Just want people to know, do your research and make informed decisions. If you've had the vaccine and start to experience numbness and tingling in the feet and increasing weakness please be checked. My fiance's wasn't caused by the vaccine but just wanted to share the information.

Just so nobody is overly worried, it's specifically the J&J vaccine that has an approximate 0.0008% risk of GB, i.e. 100 cases out of 12.5 mil doses in the US. An individual is still much more likely to develop GB after a viral or bacterial infection (an estimated 3k-6k Americans per year). GB has also been associated with COVID infection (and the flu, and bacteria from undercooked poultry, etc).

best wishes to your fiance for a speedy recovery. My dad also had GB several years back, thankfully he recovered and has no long term issues.

back on topic!

drizzly morning in the bay area. Giving the recently received No. 1 Quality refurb from BSHW a spin for morning dog duty.

My latest favorite is today’s new acquisition! NOS Mallory. (Don’t know the date for this but sold as a 1950s but could be 60s?) looks to have never been worn! Very minty!
A rich dark chocolate with a nice contrasting lighter brown grosgrain ribbon and trim which goes perfectly with my dark seal brown A-2 leather jacket (Star Sportswear by Eastman Leather Clothing Co.)

Alright did a little research on the Waymire clothing company that is stamped inside on the sweatband and the Mallory is definitely 1950s…
“Robert C. Waymire, 89, passed away on January 27, 2007 at Saint Francis Select Care Hospital in Colorado Springs. He was born January 20, 1918 in Broken Bow, Nebraska to Clarence and Helen Waymire. His family moved to Colorado in 1921. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1936. After serving in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, he joined his father and brother at Waymire's Men's Clothing Company. In 1960 he opened his own men's clothing store - Bob Waymire's.”
(Jack David Waymire, age 89, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1929, passed away on March 2, 2006 in Colorado Springs. Jack was the former owner/operator of Waymire Clothing Store in Colorado Springs and Sterling, ….He was a veteran of the US Army, having received the Purple Heart for his service during World War II.)

Looks perfect, Gary. Glad you like it and have this itch scratched (for now). Etsuko looking great in her Maxim as well. And the food pics are killing me!

Bowlers are very versatile hats, formal or casual, and yours looks great, Gary.

Quite the contrary…. Looks natural on you.

Congrats Gary, looks great on you. Can see why you didn't want to take it off.
You and Etsuko certainly know how to carry off a hat. And boy, do you eat well :)

Thank you all for the nice comments.

Thanks for the additional information, her doctors here think it started with a gastric bug she had recently. They had asked about the vaccines, including flu. Then told us that vaccines can be a cause. Wasn't my intention to scare anyone, just wanted people to be informed. Glad your Dad made a full recovery. Absolutely stunning hat your wearing today btw!

My bowler arrived this morning from @steur. Out of the box and on to my head, where it stayed the whole day.

Being my first bowler, I was concerned that I might look comical. Pleased to say I don’t think I looked any more comical than usual.
Etsuko wore a Maxim.

It's a good look for you, Gary. To echo Randy's sentiments, it can actually be very versatile. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised just how often you're going to reach for it.

Good score, Jonathan. Wonderful homburg.
Thanks, Stefan. When we get some decent weather I'll take some more detailed pics and file accordingly in the appropriate threads. I wasn't surprised to see that you have a Nizza homburg as well. ;)

Recent Borso addition. 2-3/4" brim / 5-1/2" crown. Not sure of age but appears as unworn. Johnny Carson fedora tie.

Very sharp, Ken, and a mighty fine hat to top off the ensemble.

Wearing my favorite hat,1980s Resistol 7x, while waiting on my fiance's final plasma exchange treatment for guillain barre ( pronounced like beret) syndrome. Long story, but expected to make a full recovery with physical therapy. Not trying to be political, but was told that the covid vaccine has been known to cause guillain barre, which has no cure. Just want people to know, do your research and make informed decisions. If you've had the vaccine and start to experience numbness and tingling in the feet and increasing weakness please be checked. I am so glad she is recovering. My wife lost her brother to GBS back in the early ’80s so our family is very sensitive when we hear about someone suffering from the condition. Tough hat too!

The bowler suits you quite well! Enjoy.
Yesterday early evening I wore a Gannon Wanderer (silverbelly beaver felt with charcoal trimmings).

Early morning dog soirre in a VS Westin (inspired by the Stetson hat (similar Whippet characteristics/dimensions with an under welt brim treatment).

The silvermist felt is one of the ArtLite felts. Light weight felt with a liner tip. Excellent hat.

Home, change of hat/jacket and a stroll around the property. I changed to a Gannon Wanderer (silvermist beaver felt with charcoal trimmings).

My efforts before sunrise did not capture the details of the hats. Here are some comparison pics of the two Winchester silvermist beaver felt hats.

Cheers, Eric -
Nice compare and contrast hat day, Eric. Two fine beauties indeed.
I like that one, Perry. Suede finish; pretty cool.
Playing a little catch-up...

Thursday was a day for a Gannon in Granite and a dog walk.
