If it helps - in rank order of most V shaped to most tubular, based on my own collection, I would place them in this sequence - cafe racer, j106/HH, premier highwayman, board racer….
That seems odd based on my own experience with these - I have 2 BRs and three j106 and the differences between the two models are v consistent - although the latter were all custom they simply had 2” chopped off the length of body and sleeves but the shoulders and p2p etc were unchanged from...
I have both of these and while both are quite trim they are defintely not the same pattern - the BR is v tubular, the Ridley much more tapered… arms are also much slimmer on the BR too. I would say the BR fits a slim physique best, the Ridley a more athletic one.
A) essentially they are the same block - the “slimft MC” is essentially the same cut as their j106, HH, Ridley. I think the latter is just what Thurston call it - might be a bit longer in the body than direct from Aero, so best to check. But these are all effectively the same basic pattern.

I have chest pockets on my custom J106 MC jackets (one in blue vicenza, one in black badalassi, one in goat suede) - aka Ridley aka custom Hooch Hauler - but for all of these I asked them to make it deeper, so it can easily take my iPhone. The default size of the pocket is pretty useless, but...
Here is my two-tone Everyman - russet and seal vicenza, though the former has darkened considerably over time (for the better imo)….couple of years old now…
I think the main issue lies in the mismatching style of the loose fitting trousers - this type of jacket works much better, in my opinion, by pairing it with slimmer fitting jeans in my view, with black boots. The trousers in your photo would match better with a different jacket style - eg a...
I liked the black one so much I followed up with another in russet badalassi - with a slight tweak - this time I got rid of the side and wrist straps, and for the former I replaced them with an elasticated section at the side instead…..
I have the quilted lining in my Wayfarer sleeves, which I had fitted with storm cuffs - the outer is badalassi and the body is lined in shearling - this works perfectly for cold weather, without the sleeves being to grabby as can be the case with cord or moleskin etc.
For sale - vintage (1970s?) Belstaff red cafe racer - no size tags but likely 36” (maybe 38”) In lovely condition for its age and great patina - nicely broken in and all zips etc in working order. Black nylon lining and Original Belstaff crest on sleeve pocket. Note this is an old “made in...
Yep - the buckle would have had lether covering it originally. I have one of the longer length LLs in black from the 70s where it has also lost the leather. I am sure LL could make a replacement for you - but check the colour first as they have two types of turquoise - this one looks like the...
My worry is it seems to be a bit of a pattern emerging, not just a one off - I have had numerous exchanges with Rip and his predecessor over the years, with no emails going ignored…until last month, which seems to align with the recent ghosting you have had. So sonething seems to have changed...
It was a simple query about whether the Cyclone and Lightning had a front drop or not - should not be rocket science for a response - in the end I posted the query on TFL and got the answer I needed in a few hours. LL never answered….needless to say I am wary about their competence at present...
I would agree with Marc - it seems that up to mid 70s at least the quality was generally high and consistent - after that it became much more patchy. On the issue of thread, I have not seen any busted seams from rotten cotton on any LL jackets, but maybe others have a different experience? I...
I am also concerned about the dip in service since Rip left - I sent them a query about fit for a new jacket on 14th April and not heard anything since. This is v unlike how it used to be and I am wary of parting with any money on a custom order unless they improve and get back on track to the...
Here are a couple of shots of both sides - photos do not really do it justice - the suede side is a rich chocolate brown, of similar tone to seal I would say. The smooth side has classic deerskin graining - it reminds me somewhat of LL sheep but the deer is not quite as thick. Really nice...
Yep - I have a sample of that deer too - definitely a dark chocolate on both sides….tempted to go for suede-side out when my number finally comes up on this one….
