I’m not sure why there aren’t more simple center zips like that Mercury. Particularly every maker seems to be compelled to add a useless chest pocket, with some dangling silver chain or even worse, a leather pull.
Simple is good. Actually I’d make it even simpler and get rid of the placket.
Sure, I’d hate this in a pir of dress shoes for example (luckily I very rarely wear those), but I think it goes well with this style (which some call “artisanal” or “avantgarde”) and quite often there’s mismatches like this.
But I admit I’m full of contradictions because for example I really...
Totally! Anyone wanna guess what the leather is? Drum roll… Guidi! Unlined, too. Boots are not made by them (although I do have Guidi boots) and these are among my favourites. I do see how some people would hate this though.
Also, tongue in cheek but I find funny that in this forum:
Look at the grain in my leather jacket, isn’t it amazing!
Eeeeew look at the grain in those leather shoes, disgusting!
As I mentioned in a previous message, I do think you should have the right to return the item, no questions asked (I did say that that crease wouldn’t bother me one bit, because it’s true). And in my message above I say it’s Viberg’s fault to use a type of leather that might not be what the...
Ha! So it’s Guidi leather? That makes this post funny because Guidi literally puts their boots in the washing machine after they make them (which makes them run small, as they shrink). That along with object dyeing and the “sock with a sole” look is basically their trademark. That’s why they...
Whereas I do think returns should always be accepted, no questions asked (with some exceptions, like MTO/MTM, or final sales), that crease wouldn’t bother me one bit. Viberg last time I checked do work boots and the like, it’s not like they’re dress shoes from Carmina.
cbez is really against center back seams (that’s fine, I don’t like chest pockets in center zip jackets, for example) but yeah saying they’re there only for cost cutting reasons is wrong IMO.
All it matters is whether he delivers or not. If he does, who cares what memes he posts in Instagram, really (and I’m not a customer nor intend to be in the near future).
What is it about a jacket that when open there’s a wide gap between both sides?
I see jackets with a wide gap in some other guys with a similar build to mine that makes me think “there’s no way that can be zipped up” but then they can zip it up just fine. It seems that the jacket moves towards...
Pretty sure it is! The jacket arrived yesterday, and it’s awesome.
Construction and leather seem great to me but I’m not super picky about either and don’t inspect every stitch, I like leather jackets mostly because of how they look. That’s why I was drawn to ELS as I couldn’t find anything...
Shangri-la maybe? They have models in Badalassi leather.

I like their Varenne jacket, however it’s not cheap in Badalassi.
Same colour as the pic above with the older design.
I think they mentioned changes in the collar too, new looks smaller/less 70s.
Edit: meant 70s not 80s.
