    Barber Shops

I own both an inexpensive Dovo Shavette and a Feather AC/DX and to me there's no comparison. I do not own the stainless Shavette so maybe that's an issue. Bad technique with either will have bad results. But still, my shaves with the Feather are much better than with the Shavette. There's a...

    Barber Shops

I don't care for the Shavette. I think it's fine for sideburns or the back of the neck but that's about it. Some Shavettes are very lightweight and almost flimsy. The second barbershop shave I had involved one of those and I wound up with razor burn. The Feather Artist Club, on the other...

    six degrees

I'm not sure if this counts... I have become good friends with another Fedora Lounger. He's a bit older than I am. We didn't know one another before we met on the Lounge. Anyway, we started talking on the phone and I learned that at one point his family and my family lived in the same very...

    What Are You Reading

I think they are pens or art pencils. Someone copied the cover to his "Vernacular Drawings" book. Here's a link to the cover - definitely worth checking out... http://www.laborderie.net/upload/Image/blog/vernacular_drawings.jpg Also, a review by Alan Bisbort...

    A good friend's hat: Woodrow, 46 Picadilly

Well - the hat was given to me about two weeks ago. I'm going to get some photos up soon. I started brushing it a bit and looking at the sweatband (which is fabric - there is a yellowish felt like lining behind the fabric - I'm not sure what it is or if I want to know what it is) and then I...

    Pocketwatches

I'm reading about pocket watches myself. I just bought a 1920's Illinois watch on E-bay. It wasn't too expensive at all. This watch was made before Hamilton acquired the company. I bought this to use instead of my wristwatch which needs an overhaul and possible movement replacement :mad...

    Bill's Khakis Cotton Poplins

I have a pair of the poplin trousers and I love them. They are a bit cooler in the summer than the heavier pants. They are also pretty solid & well made. Like most of the poplin trousers or jackets I've owned they start to wrinkle quickly. A nice pair of pants for a casual, relaxed...

What do you use to shave?

I recently switched to a Feather "Artist Club" straight (with disposable blades, I'm using pro-guard right now). I usually use either Trumper's soaps or Mitchell's Woolfat soap when I shave and then I follow up with Feather Kanwa Aftershave. Barry

    Space saver bags?

I bought three bags just last week for a trip to NYC. Mine were the kind that you just push/sqeeze the air through the vents. I didn't buy the kind that require a vacuum. I put my undershirts, socks, workout clothes, etc. in them and they helped save a couple of inches in my suitcase...

    Your signature cocktail.

That was my mistake. It was lemon. I don't remember the name of the Calvados but I know it is on the website on the same doc as the white wines. Barry

    Your signature cocktail.

Woody, We were at Cru - it's near Washington Square Park. The drink calls for applejack, grenadine and lime. I'm not sure of the exact recipe though. Barry
