Caribou is much lighter (nicely so) than it shows on most screens. Modern Stetson Silverbelly has little to no silver in it. I have a Skyline western and an Open Road, and the Open Road is seemingly even a little lighter tan.
Silverbelly is much more a light, whitish tan. Not white, not lite tawny. It's, well, Silverbelly!
Try to find a store to see it in person. Short of that, just Google Silverbelly hats in comparison to other colors.
For predominantly greys, blues and blacks- caribou.
Let me be the first to say- get them both! :p
Both colors are classic. I love my Chatham Royal Deluxe in caribou as it is such a versatile, classy color. Silverbelly is also a classic so it just depends on what you want to wear it with most consistently. Graphite is close, but not the same as...
It's getting to the time of year when a straw fedora is necessary to keep my head fashionably, functionally protected.
My current non-Western favorite is my Stetson Royal Deluxe Chatham. So, what's a similar style straw or palm fedora? Considering how well my Atwood western palm breathes with...
Absolutely! It's very nice feel, fit and finish. I suppose it depends whether or not you want a stiffer feel or a softer, fedora-like feel. But I was really impressed with the Royal Deluxe.
Does the hemp breathe pretty well? I can't say I've had a hemp hat before. I know palm leaf can be warmish, but I'd imagine hemp breathes more like cotton.
I just joined the Open Road family with my Royal Deluxe in Silverbelly. The "problem" is, I can see it as a gateway to more Open Roads; now I'm considering one in Sage or Caribou, with Caribou in the lead for its handsome versatility. Does anyone know what page in this thread I can go to see a...
I'm back and forth on adding another Royal Deluxe Open Road (I love my Silverbelly). I'm considering Caribou vs. Sage. Both are nice but Caribou is so versatile. Does anybody have one, and have pics to share?
I will say, after seeing how much I like the OR in Silver Belly, I am seriously considering the OR in Sage. I find it to be a truly fantastic hat and color.
Worth the wait- my Royal Deluxe Silver Belly Open Road arrived today!
This is simply a gorgeous hat. As an enthusiast of western (cowboy) hats, I love the blend of elements inherent in the OR: cattleman's crease, 2 3/4 brim, up or down brim options, tons of tradition. It's a fedora feel with...
To add to this monkey wrench, I'm waiting on my Royal Deluxe Open Road. I doubt it's going to be as weather resistant as the Akubras, but it is a different feel/felt than the stiffer 6X. As a minimalist-in-training, I endeavor to wear my Royal Deluxe hats in the weather (perhaps not pure...
I think this is a legitimate quandary. I'm a minimalist, including with my hats. But there are different seasons and weather elements that justify different hats- as well as the plain old justification for a different look every now and again. That said, it is liberating when you find a hat you...
