Well, it will come as a surprise to nobody, but I'm already considering my next fedora. :D As mentioned above, while I don't consider my fedoras "work hats," I do use them as a lifestyle accessory, like a jacket, gloves, etc... Therefore, I can see my fedoras as largely replacing my cowboy hats... -

Great suggestions, and I completely agree about the umbrella, or a hat specifically designed to handle downpours. I am definitely a "function over form" type with most things, and especially with hats. I do like to take care of them but they must serve a function- cover from the sun, warmth... -

Thanks for your response. I'm consistently a 7 3/8, 59 in my Stetsons and other hats. I won't have an extreme haircut but it will trim down a bit. This new Chatham fits remarkably well and I think a little reduction tape will cover me to take up any slack. By the way, is there a favored... -

I will definitely post images when I receive the Chatham. The Caribou color seems quite popular and I'm excited to see it in person- the images on the internet show it anywhere from light grey to graphite in color. I hope it's a darker grey. -

I trust the woman (first mistake? :) ) who suggested the steam remedy, and to be fair, I probably just used too much glue. But I've given some thought to the wide ribbon solution, a course of action I may indeed take... Where would I pick up a wide black ribbon for this? -

DD- you did a fantastic job. I'm concerned about losing too much beaver/felt, but I'll check with Stetson too. I suppose I could even use a black marker, to cover some of the glue- at least the part that extends above the original felt band. But we'll see. I don't want to ruin the hat.
