Looks like Tuesday is delivery day; USPS Parcel Select was delayed, on a 3-day weekend of all times! No sweat- I've enjoyed rotating a western and my Royal Deluxe Chatham. It will make the arrival of the OR that much sweeter.
I like it Bowen- thank you for sharing. I like the idea of front and back snapped down too. I think the Cattleman crease allows for that.
Truthfully, many fedoras can handle the front/back snapped down. I was watching the movie the Untouchables (millionth time) the other day (great hat movie)...
I admit I'm curious about how the Cattleman crown will look with the brim snapped down. I've seen some threads here with pictures of the brim snapped down and it looks great; but I think the OR looks fantastic either way. I've also read about some people who change the crown to a more...
Alas, I went by the post office and they haven't received it yet! So out for delivery seems to be delayed a day. Not too big a deal as my Chatham Royal Deluxe is riding on my head in the meantime.
As I'm waiting for my Royal Deluxe Open Road to arrive tomorrow, I had the occasion to actually...
Wrong again. You brought Jim Leavelle into the conversation as a response to my "Zapruder" comment.
To you, incongruously, a discussion about a man wearing a hat is more important than the hat- in a hat forum. You brought racism into a thread about a hat. Own it. It's not a sin, but just own...
Indeed, as you can plainly re-read, my original post was about the hat.
You brought Jim (and racism?) into the conversation, so I can only assume you have some aggrieved status at the hands of his inanimate Resitol.
As a courtesy to more balanced forum members, I will bow out of this...
You'd think a hat forum would be able to discuss hats, historical or not, without relegating a particular hat from a particular historical event to the trash heap of social irrelevance.
I've done enough research of Jim Leavelle not to associate racism with the hat or hat brand he was wearing...
And you voiced that racism somehow has a part in the historical significance of the hats worn in the posted image, particularly by Leavelle. So I find the link to be an abstract opinion at best, inappropriate at worst. But since it's an opinion, I have no opinion on why you'd try to involve...
But it is a Resistol, not one of "many hundreds of other options."
But you've claimed you are not interested in the hat that you've now commented on multiple times (and will yet comment again). So the point is moot. I guess. o_O
It's mildly interesting to me that Kennedy is considered one of the reasons fedoras (and other male headwear) fell out of popularity in America (he didn't wear a hat at his inauguration), and yet we saw so many still being worn in 1963 following his assassination. I'm not trying to make a...
