Hello all!

As the title states, I'm interested in buying this jacket here, in brown. I believe a size 40 or possibly 38 would do me.

Also, if you know of jackets of a similar style (but maybe not quite $1000, heh), I'd love to hear about them.

Thanks!

Hello and Welcome to Fedora Lounge. That's a Premier-fit Highwayman. Have you ever tried on an Aero Highwayman? The Premer fit is very different. It is very snug-fitting. Being 6' 1" tall, 195 lbs I wear between a tag size 38 and 40 in the standard fit Highwayman, and at least a tag size "44" in the Premier Fit model.

The very best way to know your fit is to stop by a good suit shop and be measured - take down your measurements. Lots of folks on here who can help you after that.

The Premier range is newer, having only been in production for a few years. There's a few nice used ones floating around for sale once in a while. There is a currently listed "size 46" in the classified now, but it's possibly to big for you. If it's not too forward - share your height & weight and we can help you out more.

Thanks so much, that makes a big difference clearly. I'm 5'9" and 160lbs, slim and athletic. I do like a fitted, slim cut, although on the other hand I intend to put on 10-15 pounds in the next year or two so need to leave a little room.

My brother bought the Ostmann in a size 40, and that fit me well. I'm guessing from your experience with the Aero Highwayman (non Premier Fit) that I would need closer to a 38 in that, and if it's a Premier then a couple sizes up from that.

Any thoughts very much appreciated! I can definitely get measured (or measure myself) as well.

Nice! I have wanted an Ostmann for a long time now. However people must really love them as they very rarely, if ever come up in the typicall places to fiund quality used leather jackets. And the new price is rather on the high side. There is a memeber here from Australia who owns a few of those, I bleieve one of his is 20+ years old and was a new-purchase then.

Regarding the Premier fit HWM - I think a "40" may do you well. If you are in North America, and able to swallow the price of a new one I would seriously suggest contacting Carrie at Thurston Brothers, the US stockist for Aero. She is a master at sizing, adn you can obtain a fit-jacket to try out. I really cannot reccommned them enough.

I’m 5’ 10 and 165-170.
Here’s my Premier Highwayman in a 38

I might be convinced to sell if you think it would fit you.
Feel free to PM (start a conversation) if you are interested.

If you want a new one, I echo @AeroFan_07 ’s advice about Thurston Bros.

Thanks for the replies and advice y'all!

HandyMike, thanks for the photo, looks great. I'm going for a brown (just updated the post to reflect this) but the way it fits you makes me think either a 38 or a 40 would work.

AeroFan, great tip about Carrie. I'd like to find a deal if I can, but I may have to get new and if so I'll contact her.
