not trying to be a pain but... where is the ice?

If you look at the bare tree in the middle picture closely, you can see its coated with ice.

But, if its ice you want, ice I can give you.
These pictures are from 2002.... during my spring break! Didn't feel much like spring.

We had a huge ice storm in central Nebraska that knocked out the power for weeks and weeks last December. Amazing what that stuff can do.

I love to go out and walk around after ice storms like that, and just listen to the trees. It looks and sounds like a strange alien crystalline world, with branches clinking in the wind and the occasional creaking and cracking going on.

Ice storms are a particularly bizarre, beautiful and deadly form of weather. What happens is that the temp on the ground is considerably below freezing, but the temp up above is not. The rain comes down in liquid form, hits the objects on the ground, and freezes solid. Thick amounts of ice can build up very quickly. It's utterly beautiful to see, but the weight breaks down branches like crazy, and it makes all surfaces absolutely slick. I was in a 4 car collison at 3 miles per hour after an ice storm. We just slid slowly and majestically down the hill, bouncing off cars in slow motion, which then in turn started bouncing off other cars. There was an ice storm in Rochester NY a few years ago that did staggering amounts of damage.
But snow can kill you, too. It's a big mistake to underestimated the destructive power of the lovely white fluffy stuff.

It's snowing in Western New York, Northwestern Pa, and Northeastern Ohio! Plus other "Lee of the Lakes" areas. First snow of the year! Yikes!

It is indeed a snowy and blustery day here in Western New York! Some areas to the north are reporting five or more inches but the ground isn't even white here yet as the lake effect is supposed to sink south this evening....Don't worry I'm sure we'll get our eight to twelve inches in. This is the most unusual snow I've ever witnessed....it is thundering and lightning while it is snowing.

Right now it is belting down with snow, we've got about 4 inches already. So nice when the snow comes and makes all the bare trees look beautiful ;)

15-18 degrees celsius in sydney (spring/summer season)

Rain, showers, shower or two, chance shower, bit of sun, some local thunder possible........I'm sick of it!
SICK OF IT!!!!!!!!!

We had a few flurries today in my part of Ohio as well...just my rotten luck that my winter coat is at the cleaners until Thursday! I've heard conflicting Almanac reports on just how bad the winter will be this year, but having lived in Northeast Ohio and Western PA all my life I'm sure it won't be anything new for me. Of course that won't stop me from whining and crying about it when I have to walk in it everyday!

Thats interesting, I've been hearing the opposite around here... that we're gonna be having a mild winter this year.

Only time will tell, I suppose...

And they're saying snow is coming! :(
Don't get me wrong... I like the snow. I'm just not quite ready for it.
