What's for Dinner?

Dinner at Outback - Hubby's choice (definitely not mine!) for our 10th anniversary. Mediocre food is a generous description.

Congrats on 10 years - that's wonderful.

Usually, anniversary restaurants are a consensus choice with a bit more of a, if not romantic, then intimate setting than Outback. And I'll even throw this one out there, it seems that most of the time, the choice for anniversary dinners tilts toward what the woman wants (just an anecdotal observation from my small circle of family and friends).

Yeah, I thought it an odd choice, but he really, really wanted something he saw on their online menu...... only to not have it on that location's menu. :(

That's kinda cute - he wanted something on the menu, so that's where he wanted to go - kid like. Hey, all this stuff is unimportant if he's a good guy and a good guy to you a your daughter.

And how freakin' fitting that the thing he wanted wasn't there - it's amazing how often that happens.

My girlfriend is out at a friend's baby shower, so my father and I are having BLTs (she doesn't like BLTs for some reason).

I'm just going to say what we're all thinking: and you married her anyway? :)

Kidding aside, a lot of women don't eat bacon, can't think of a single guy friend I have who doesn't, but a lot of women don't eat red meat or are somewhat vegan (but openly cheat for some things).

She's my girlfriend, not my wife. :p She likes bacon, lettuce, bread and tomatoes, but oddly does not enjoy them in sandwich form. It's weird.

Then there's still time to trade up - absolutely, completely, just kidding. Is she not a fan of carbohydrates - that might be it, since she likes all the ingredients otherwise? I have known more than a few women who eat hamburgers without the bun for that reason.

But I'm the wrong one to ask as I'm in the camp that almost any food ones like in the universe only gets better when put into sandwich form.

But not for anything served with Coors.

Babydoll, congratulations on the 10yr anniversary.
Outback is named of course for where their food comes from, out back.
Never been impressed with them, then again I'm not impressed with Flemings or the latest steak house here

As the wife says "we can get 26oz steaks at Kroger for $14-15 each, and you cook them on the grill a lot better than some of these high priced steak houses."
The only time we eat grilled meat in a restaurant, is when we go to a local Syrian place called Tannoor Grill.
Similar to Texas De Brazil, but half the price, and a lot less sodium.

After taking my dad to lunch late this afternoon, I decided to eat light this evening.
The wife and I had apple wood smoked bacon, sausage, 3 fried eggs (each), and hash browns.
More protein than carbs since I had catfish and fries (with hot sauce of course) earlier in the day.

We fried some cauliflower a few weeks ago, with Wright's Barrel Aged Bourbon Bacon, and onions.
Lots of fresh black pepper, and on occasion we also add garlic.
The wife is working late, and I decided to stop by the store and get dinner for myself (ate a protein bar @ 7am and nothing else).
Tonight it's an 18oz sirloin cooked in an iron skillet with butter and onions, 3 fried eggs over somewhat easy (cooked them a bit too long to be over easy), and a piece of toast.
The wife won't be home until 8-9pm, and by then she'll just eat a sandwich.
