What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Oof... that’s a nice sized slice... I heard of guys using crazy glue on boots with a slice that.. the idea being the glue fills the hole and binds the leather and then it gets shoe-polished over.. I’m not sure how that would work on a jacket tho.. I’m curious to hear what the experts say.. could some one have used a razor to open the shipping box on one of its prior stops?
Other then that the jacket still looks/fits great..

That’s what it looks like to me. Heart breaking really. 5 months away from me and this shit. Hard lesson learned but now I just want it repaired. Superglue is rigid when it dries. That might work on the body of the jacket but the constant flex of the sleeves will crack it again I suspect. If the only viable repair is a panel replacement that’s what I’ll do. I would have very much appreciated knowing this type of damage was present before hand. I feel it’s something that can’t be missed frankly.

For deep cuts like this I have used Leather Flexifil or Binder to fill in the gash and hold it together. I have only had to do it on black jackets so I then carefully use black, flexible leather paint to hide it. Online seller like Furniture Clinic may have different colors.

Practice on cheap items prior to attempting this fix on a nice jacket but it does work. I do it a lot on my boots that get gashed while riding. So I have had practice.

That's really bad, ton. I feel for you. I had a jacket sent to me with a slash mark across the chest - a tiny one but it broke my heart and could not be fixed I lived with it but then sold on the jacket. Like others, I think these things happen when the parcels are opened up with a craft knife and inspected. Got to be that.

Cryin shame. I'd try to have the section of leather replaced by Aero hoping for a good match. I don't see how anything else would be a reliable fix.

I'm always nervous when getting leather jackets shipped in from abroad because norwegian customs always open them to check them out. If the boxes are small then there can be some damage done.

On an otherwise perfect jacket like that I wouldn't be able to live with it if it wasn't of my own making.

Did you check if there was a cut in the plasticbag surrounding the jacket in the box? I guess accidents can happen and the damage can be done without the person noticing it.

Thanks for the compliments! I do have some nice pieces, I'll admit that much! and yes there is about 50-60 altogether. Hardly the largest collection around here, but I'm working on it! I should sell 20-30 jackets which I don't like all that much, but I'm too lazy. Maybe next autumn...

I try to find a 'no sharps' label to stick on larger parcels- this looks like a box cutter has been used carelessly. If you can't get a new panel, some of the products used to repair cat scratches on leather might work. Explore options first, though.

The cut tapers to a scratch on the sleeve (under the forearm). I’ve emailed both Denny and Alan for repair suggestions. I’m giving the benefit of the doubt as to ignorance of the damage to the shipper. But needless to say, I’m not very pleased to see it. I suppose the lesson is don’t send your shit off and expect it to come back perfect but I sent a fragile Bates jacket around the world and it came back unscathed.

Sorry that’s bullshit if the person you bought this back from didn’t mention the obvious what look like to me to be knife cuts he’s taking the piss, blind Freddy would notice something like this and disclose it up front as part of the sale, at some point someone slashed this jacket with a knife or box cutter or similar if you ask me

This box was sent domestically so it wasnt opened by postal employees. In fact the box it came back to me in was a great box for shipping a jacket. Top load type.

Refund return the jacket if it was me, you won’t be happy with a knife damaged jacket, replacing panels I expect would be expensive and will it ever match? Super glue ect only Bandaid solutions.

Absolutely. It’s a box cutter slice. Rubbing or brushing into something doesn’t leave this kind of clean cut. I know how I am with my jackets. I certainly would’ve known this happened the very second it occurred. Doesn’t mean everybody else is the same way though.
